Hi Did the extractors make a difference in driving? Does it pull better? Thanks.
@ERFPLAAS2 жыл бұрын
It made the revs go smoother through the gears and helped a tiny amount with consumption. The 4.5 though is a real dud in auto and uses more petrol than the 4.8 auto with way less power. Reckon the best option would be to a have a manual for the 4.5 and 4.8 but even then the 4.5 is totally underpowered and heavy on the juice. The 4.5 is also likely to do the head gasket around 180k if you tow.
@Turbo_Tractors2 жыл бұрын
@@ERFPLAAS My 4.5 has recently done a head gasket somewhere after that 180k mark and it was used for towing? You psychic or is that a common thing? Haha
@rekless872 жыл бұрын
@@ERFPLAAS Mine is on 280kms now, goes ok but up hills it drops like 15kms. Both my tanks give me 650kms around town. When i brake and slow down then accelerate, it just doesn't go, unless i floor the accelerator, it won't go. I thought maybe it needs to breath better. Was thinking either i commit and keep it, then do extractors and exhaust and a tune or sell it and get a turbo deisel.

When I saw that Grader in front of you driving through Nanup at the beginning of the video I thought, these boys are intending to get bogged and have some serious backup! The kid face planting running down the dunes gave me a chuckle at 10:10. Great video and top destination 👍

That Paj should have eaten up those hills ....4H
@ERFPLAAS3 жыл бұрын
Craig had it in 4 low, 3rd manual but it did not want to gear down to 2nd even when using the gear paddle, he checked the Paj forum and feedback is u should be in high range for Calcup
@mikewasowski14113 жыл бұрын
@@ERFPLAAS interestingly my paj feels soggy in 4H. I used 4LLc all the time for sand. Feels more direct and responsive. Did you notice how wide and shallow the entrance to Yeagarup is now? I think they dozed it out and made huge windrows on the sides. Great vid 👏
@ERFPLAAS3 жыл бұрын
Yes, I also always use 4L in sand with an auto but we tried maybe 6-7 times and could not get up. The Paj just did not want to gear down to 2nd and only did so right before coming to a standstill otherwise it would have made it. The same Paj outperformed a few cars though at white gum farm and Brunswick so it is a real capable vehicle with the rear diff lock. I had a v6 Delica many moons ago and that thing went everywhere. The tyres pressures were also 12psi on the Paj and I would have gone down to 8 with those new ATs he had on. Reckon for sand though u can't beat a Petrol engine and my 4.8 GU motors through most. The entrance to Yeagarup seems to get shorter every year and yes, they did seem to have widen it. Awesome piece if country!

@ERFPLAAS4 жыл бұрын
If u leave the evening and camp at the start of the track for a 9am start the next morning u should exit the track around 11am. We stopped each day around 3:30-4pm so you can still push to 5 or 6pm. 3 days are more than enough

great trip guys , did anyone have alternator issues with all that mud on the track?
@ERFPLAAS5 жыл бұрын
No issues Rolly, we do the Holland track each year around June/July and after 5-6 times doing it we had 1 lux developing alternator issues, a few punctures and 1-2 times guys got stuck with a bit of water coming in. Also standard would be replacing rear brake drums if you use your park brake with muddy drums

what are the odds for a Subaru Outback? I've heard of few getting up there. Worth a shot, or too risky you think? I'd only consider up on to the Yeagarup dunes, then back down. I wouldn't dare try crossing the Warren or up Callcup! Thoughts?
@ERFPLAAS8 жыл бұрын
Should be no problem with the Yeagarup dunes...50/50 up Calcup...if its wet no problem but hot and dry then reckon the sand would be too soft and you would need low range 3rd gear to get up...

Nice one, im heading there on Friday. Any tyre issues? ive got a 6th rim and tyre but wondering if its needed? Fills my tray being a 33" muddy in a dual cab tray.
@ERFPLAAS9 жыл бұрын
HighTowerAU We were up there again 2 weeks ago. Search on - Holland Track WA July 15 - Best Ever!!Keep your wheels on 25 psi and avoid chicken tracks that go through the bush since its there where you get punctures. You do not need 6 wheels...1 spare would be ok...just stay away from new chicken tracks close to the trees and look out for roots on the track - easy to spot and avoid....you should be able to go through all bog-holes on 33" tires except maybe 1. Best fun ever is that mud oval we found close to Mt Holland. I think the area had about 50mil rain last week so you should have a great time. If you avoid all the bogholes you can almost do 90% of the track in 2wd...but what's the fun in that!
