No the reason why his up set is because Odysseus knowingly sacrifice 6 men to Scylla

I mean, after the whole mess with Poseidon, _Ruthlessness_ and especially _Get In The Water_ I would not blame Odysseus for being scared of the water, even if pre war he wasn't. If Sirenelope was snooping around in his head I can't fault her for thinking it plausible and therefore falling for Ody's scheme

I love how the musical motif from the sirens returns at the end, like, he's too clever for the cheap bargain basement version of temptation, but the real thing is a whole different animal

Guys, what if Ody told them to cut off the tails, so they could eat them? That was their last meal, which is why Eurylochus and the crew are so hungry days later when they encounter the Sun God’s cattle.

11:55 It just occurred to me that Eurylochus and the crew knew to a pretty good extent what they were doing here. They were pessimistic and just so hungry that death genuinely seemed the better option than to carry on.

Eurylochus never has a good idea that works 1.lets pillage that island for food (would have made them eat the lotus without people to warn them) 2.try’s to avoid literally the one thing that can help them and despite being told not to proceeds to Open the wind bag 3.leave a bunch of people on circis island and run to the sea without any clue where to go and probably run into Poseidon again 4.mutiny in general let alone killing the cows on an island for a god

Poor Eurylochus - It's not unreasonable to think that he, just a man, would rather believe wind spirits claiming the bag contains treasure and having human nature influence his curiosity over believing the word of another man, even if it is Odysseus. It doesn't absolve him of the events since you're not required to forgive every apology; but he did admit his wrongdoing and apologized because no doubt, Odysseus was blaming himself for the men Poseidon killed, which he is partially to blame for. Eurylochus may have opened the wind bag, but it was Odysseus who failed to apologize, which was the only thing Poseidon wanted him to do. Does that justify the events of mutiny? I mean, yeah, if you think about it - In Eurylochus' and all the surviving men's eyes, Odysseus more or less promised to bring 600 men home. The incident with the Cyclops can be chalked up to an accident, but shouting out his name and address did lead to Poseidon finding him and losing all but one ship, the one ship whose crew heard Poseidon's reasons for why he wants to punish them and witnessed their Captain fail at appeasing him. Afterwards, it's understandable to believe that Odysseus would feel guilt and want to keep the rest alive; we can believe that because he goes to rescue the men that were turned into pigs by Circe. Despite all the losses, as their leader, he still would want to bring who is left back home (we don't talk about Elpenor). Odysseus says as much and hopes Eurylochus would do the same. Again, put yourselves in Eurylochus and the crew's shoes: Odysseus shows that he'll try to bring his men home, and wouldn't abandon them. When the Cyclops kills the brothers they lost, he encourages everyone to "Remember Them". When Poseidon goes to punish them, he tries to save their lives, even if he ultimately fails. When they turned into pigs, he goes out of his way to rescue them. "Man, I'm so glad the Captain is doing his best to bring us home!" In Different Beast, when we see Ody and the Crew become more ruthless, into Monsters - It led to results that could lead them home. They're finally fighting back and getting answers, a means to get back home! And then Scylla happens. He can't even explain why he did it; to Eurylochus and the crew, the man they followed and put their faith in, had just gone against his promises to them - He sacrificed 6 of their friends. Just a song earlier they were fighting back against the monsters, and now they're letting the monsters kill them again. All the losses, the diminishing morale, the failure to return home, the seeming indecisiveness, and now the betrayal. Eurylochus and the Crew having a mutiny isn't unjustified. Their leader has absolutely lost it in their eyes; Odysseus is no longer going to bring them home, Odysseus is going to USE THEM to get home. That was the kind of Monster he had become. And at the end of the Thunder Saga, Odysseus does exactly that. He knew, if he had to choose, he'd save himself to see Penelope again. The tragedy isn't that he lost all his friends in a bid to return home, the tragedy is he was made to choose in the first place. Eurylochus may have fucked up by killing the sacred cattle, but you heard him; they were hungry, all hope was lost, and they were just men. You can blame him for opening the wind bag, but at best it delayed their return home a couple more years, and in danger of Poseidon. But the events that got the rest killed were a result of Odysseus' actions as well. There's blame to share between the two. _You can have your principles_ _When you've got a bellyful_ _Hunger has a way with you_ _There's no telling what you're gonna do_ _When the chips are down_
