What a magnificent work! Why would anyone seek to harm it? The ONLY thing I would ever do to that would be to stare at it in awe and wonder. Exceedingly cool work.

Malcolm, another great project that I can't wait to make ! I have made a few from your book and DVD series ,these look like a much easier project than most of the others. Thank you for sharing the jigs also , that is usually most of the challenge for me and what I enjoy making the most ! I'm also glad to see that you're still turning and coming up with more ideas and projects.

This was really moving and I’m crying. For the man who took his own life, for the world and everyday people becoming more and more violent and destructive. And for those young people who look for hope in death and destruction. Life longs for life.

This is so very sad! I've been watching a lot of videos about burning Man from some very prominent burning Man youtubers even that are telling people to climb all over the art pieces and things like that. I've never been there but I can see where if it's not the case for all of them that kind of statement could give people the wrong idea

Mr. Tibbetts, you are a true artist with infinite patience and attention to detail. I cannot believe the angles for all those 31,000 pieces to fit perfectly. I look forward to seeing your work at the gallery every time I am in South Lake Tahoe.

committed by one rich psychotic vandal??? i picture a trucker ... 40yr old, dim-witted, hateful, bigoted, white, pock-marked, ferret-faced, inbred, southern guy who never works out ... whose fat wife left him after he beat her for the 20th time ... who came to burning man to get drunk and destroy as much beauty as he could. i'm guessing he viewed burning man as a despicable culture who are too WEAK/deplorable since they placed no defense against the supreme power of violence/hatred/destruction/conquest. he probably loved his power to 'CONQUER' the 'lie' of beauty/hope/love. he had to have been one SICK coward!! i'd pillory that guy at a shopping mall [pictures of his evil deeds above him] for a year for children to spit on ..... so children could witness the consequence of HATING a bettering SOCIETY [hating the doomed, billionaire death-culture is fine ... but not what survives of the original, generous, ascendent burning man].

"My heart sunk and my stomach came up into my throat.." - exactly that. I know. But then, when you sum it all up, it has now gained a higher form of art installation, a theatre almost. It ended in a brutal story of a man who destroyed your art and was so desperate about it that he had to end his life. I am probably connecting the dots that don't exist.. but that's what I got from it.

Why do you like to use the stabilized wood?
@tahoeturner2 жыл бұрын
I do my own stabilizing and that gives me colors that are not available in natural wood and the colors last. Also, stabilized wood is very stable; if doesn’t move much.

I love to turn wood, sometimes however I am a bit cynical about where it can lead. Your work gives me hope that the future is wide open to new and wonderful art.

I have not the words to express my sorrow for what happened. Having attempted segmented turning at the very, very elementary levels.....I just cannot fathom how you dealt with seeing your elaborate art destroyed. The words “pure evil” come forth to repeatedly replace all others I can think of. I am so very sorry for what happened to you.
@johnwoods62963 жыл бұрын
I’m gutted here in New Zealand weeping and cursing thus sickening destruction, but I am heartened and inspired by your positive calm approach, which is the real message for me. I salute your skill, passion and dedication to your crafts and art, and wish I could emulate all of it. Well done.

I was there in 2017, also saw your segmented vases at Coconut Grove. This was a very cool video reminder of both your work and the event. The next video that follows this one is Black Rock City, 2019. Worth watching. I think your art at the event was one of the most complex and wonderful, by just a few people, ever. Congratulations! Next time, just use flexible dryer duct.
