@@madmansprinkles I love the early Ki-43s (= the ones with the lower BRs), not only in terms of looks. Yeah, amazing what teammates are willing to do just to score a few more points; every time bullets flew around my ears it was the same guy & he ended up second behind me, so it seems to have worked for him... (probably a TK is still too cheap; hope Gaijin raises the prices there again... just happens too often for me)... p. s. yay, apparently the comments still work under my videos; never took so long to get a comment... but I've caught YT deleting comments under my videos a few times; for no apparent reason to me... 🤷‍♂️

@@madmansprinkles I was never a particular fan of the P-39 or P-63... but I finally wanted to try them out in Air RB and was pleasantly surprised; I certainly haven't flown them for the last time. Too bad I couldn't do anything for my teammate except avenge his death, at least that...

@@Stefan-Forster The P-63A-10 and P-63A-5 are excellent as well, though, they do that weird dip when they roll They have good armor, but they're heavy as a result Best part is the guns and speed (:

@ the armor definitely saved me here. The Pe-2's rear gunner got my engine and various other parts pretty good (after I shredded his plane), but I still made it back to the airfield to get repaired... The guns are good, would even pass on the 37mm; but it‘s fun when bomber hunting

@@Stefan-Forster That center mounted 37mm is so devastating I wouldn't want to change it 🤣 The French MS.410 has 7.5mms but a single center mounted 20mm with 60 bullets, but it annihilates everything in its path, and the flight performance isn't even that amazing Center mounted cannons are a blessing to have

@ The central guns certainly have their advantages, but the 37mm has such a slow rate of fire and certainly weighs a lot... so I don't think I'd miss it if it was gone... you'd still have 2 relatively central MGs and 2 in the wings; would be enough for me and the better performance would be a nice plus...

@@chris_bianchi13 I recently realized that I've hardly ever flown it; I don't think it's that bad...

Rockets would have been very useful against the H6K, I was able to deal with everything else well... and the target has to be big for me to hit it with rockets too 😂🤣

@@madmansprinkles I've only flown the Vb so far & unfortunately it overheats pretty quickly; and if it were a bit faster I wouldn't be mad either... but the real problem is the uptiers I've flown the Vb so often and then had Vcs in the team and they are probably a whole BR higher and you notice that and then you go home without kills...

@@madmansprinkles I'll have to have a look at the manual engine management; I've always had it on automatic... that could make a difference...

@@madmansprinkles It's actually the most fun when you do well as a squad and all members score kills... but unfortunately it doesn't always work out quite as desired. In my defense, I asked County if he minded if I went after the Il-2... I'm not the one who wants all the kills for myself... i‘m not an American main that only cares about his KD ratio 😈😇

It takes a moment to get used to, especially because I usually only play props in Air RB and only have some experience with jets in Air Arcade. Jets come with their own challenges: which missile can do what? How do you defend against which missile? Positioning remains important, as does aiming with the guns (if you have no more missiles or have to dogfight)... and in Top Tier the increasingly complicated control of the weapon systems is added... radar modes, switching to targets, etc... I enjoy the battles from BR 1.0 - 6.0 the most, but everything above that is a nice change; it's a pity that Gaijin now only focuses on the latest jets / weapon systems

The He 100 flies a bit funny, it's not the most maneuverable plane but it's pretty fast... and I agree with you 100%: the armament is rather weak and that can be frustrating when you're not hitting the pilot I have my last day of work for the year tomorrow and would certainly be available for a few rounds at the weekend; I always have a lot of fun when we fly together

I-15 and I-153 are both very dangerous (see my two latest videos) and not only for other biplanes but also for monoplanes... not super fast, but very maneuverable and with their 4 MGs quite powerful

@@madmansprinkles I didn't understand during the game why I didn't get the kill for the Fokker... only when editing the video did I realize that my team member got him with the bomb... I think I was pretty lucky that my plane wasn't damaged as well. Is the I-15 really that dangerous? The I-153 definitely is, but the I-15 is only a “reserve”... I'll definitely have to try it out...

@@Stefan-Forster The I-15 is fun as hell to fly, does good damage when you get hits and with out turn anything, same with the I-16 Every plane designed by Polikarpov is amazing! If he had access to better engines and wasn't designing planes while in a gulag, I imagine his planes would have been even more formidable than anything else of his time O:

@ Back when I started playing War Thunder (I don't remember when; years ago), I was really flashed by the switch from biplanes to monoplanes; I was always looking for an arcady sim in which I could fly my beloved warbirds. I also tried the rocket thing back then, but I think with the American planes, not the Soviet ones… and i loved it 🤣😂

@@invalid-dev Never flown a 1v1 before... probably wouldn't stand a chance :-) And yes, I enjoy Air RB quite a bit, even though I'm still far from good... and haven't really ventured into higher BRs yet.

I realized that I had never flown this plane before; I had to catch up... Retracting the landing gear takes what feels like 2 minutes, incredibly slow...

Yeah that was a little too close for my taste; luckily all went well... I've looked at the hit analysis a few times; think it's a cool feature, but think it's more useful in Ground RB than Air RB...

Energy fighters are right up my alley, by far my favorite to fly... the P-400 is good, but I find it underpowered, but its powerful guns make up for that to some extent

@@madmansprinkles I had no experience on the Me 410 and flew it for the 1st time in Air RB (mainly because County always advocates giving the non meta planes some love) and was surprised by the performance of the „Hornisse“ (‚Hornet'). Really enjoyed it, can only recommend it...

@@Stefan-Forster The Hornet is pretty good, but I somehow had a better time in the Brigand of all things... The Whirlwind is just unfair against anything in the lobby, only downside is low ammo count, I highly recommend it if you enjoyed the Hornet (:

The American (F6F-5) and the British version (Mk II) have an identical BR of 3.3 in Air RB. But the British version is a rank 3, the American version is only a rank 2 aircraft. Why I don't know... according to WT Wiki the difference is mainly how many SLs and RPs you get... 🤷‍♂️

@@Stefan-Forster the American hellcat used to be rank 3 but when they rearranged the tech trees it got moved down unfortunately. The Brit one is premium so they try not to change premium stuff often I believe

I think I was especially lucky with my opponents, they didn't fly their sometimes much more maneuverable planes well or had bad aim... because I didn't find the F6F that great either, like the F4F it seems a bit cumbersome and both don't roll well... the one P-63 could follow me for a long time, but never shot at me, I guess his guns were jammed... But I'm not complaining, I earned almost 100k SLs in this game (without boosters)

@Stefan-Forster don't sell yourself too short 🤣 You were so enticing they held their triggers and jammed their guns :P All part of the master plan (:

@@PorkNBeans47 I usually have trouble aiming and being effective with the American .50 Cals; in this game it went surprisingly well and so I also survived the Ki-44; at first I thought that would be the end...

@@PorkNBeans47 For whatever reason, I get on better with the British version than the American one... it's definitely fun

@@Stefan-Forster Mine too! And I hate to contribute to the stereotype but British teams typically perform better than their American counterparts. I find more success in my British one as well😂

@@PorkNBeans47 All in all, I found it easier to unlock the American tech tree than the British one... but the British have airplanes on certain BRs that suit me better than the American planes...

@@madmansprinkles Unfortunately, the Gladiator rolls a bit strangely, making aiming not always easy. I found it amazing how easy it was to shoot down the He 112s; if you fly them properly they would be so much faster... I was kind of scared of the Ju-87, even though it was the last plane... the rear gunner can be very dangerous and the plane can normally take a lot. Fortunately the pilot was quickly 'unconscious'
