Very thorough and helpful analysis, thanks. I may incorporate a hood with my 'extractor box' behind the fence. Appreciate the template offer as well 🙂. I think I might experiment with the 'dust shoe' template too, as it preserves angle-mitre performance.

Any chance you have building plans for this set up? This is exactly what im looking for. Especially the planer setup

Hey I was looking up dust collection attachments and came across a few. I found one similar from shop nation, however I found out from a review video that it has to be removed every time you change the blade. Can this unit stay on during blade changes or does it have to come off as well? I’m a cabinet installer who does a fair bit of cutting and that requires a sharp blade and blade changes. Every step added means time added which I’m not a fan of. Otherwise I’m impressed by what’s show on the video.

How much difference does a smaller shop vac with a 1 1/2” hose vs 2 1:2” hose make? I’ve seen 60 cam on the smaller ones and up to 140 cam on the bigger ones.

Tool curve makes a stubby handle for that planer and it really helps with lowering the profile of the stick out. May help in your situation with that handle sticking out so far.

Hi Chris…it’s a great idea but….does the slide out deck and the jointer move from side to side when jointing and putting weight on the wood? The drawer slides look flimsy. I was hoping you were going to demo towards the end on how it’s handling the weight. I thought about doing that same thing under my miter saw station.

Hey Bob, happy to help if you have any questions!
@bobhobbs93692 ай бұрын
my question was going to be to you was the same one I asked your major competitor who found out his dust control was easy to break by pieces of wood jamming up in the 3D printed adapter so back to you do you have any feedback or complaints about the one you make easily breaking or busting my pieces of off cut wood flying up in it
@benchtopwoodworks2 ай бұрын
The forces involved are definitely extremely high and hard to design around. Unlike my competitor, I use a material that can survive repeated blows from a hammer. I had a lot of early feedback and set out to test nearly EVERY material until I found my current one.

Not all that different from my own tool collection. However my tool collection goes much much further with plumbing, electrical and my own HVAC tools. I had everything he did with the exception of the brace and ratcheting screw drivers. My father was a home builder post WW2 thru the mid 60’s. By osmosis and observation of my father I learned many tradesman skills. They have served me well over the years. Not much I haven’t done or tried.
