Hi. I am trying to understand how this works. Do you have to use the software each time you need a patch? Is that how it works?
@tailbiterz3 күн бұрын
Hi, thanks for watching. You don't have to use the software every time for a patch. Different patches can be stored on an SD card, local to the Ksoloti. There is a utility on the patching software that then allows the patches to be selected on the Ksoloti using one of the encoders and the buttons. So it can be used stand-alone with a number of different patches. Oh, and the SD card has to be FAT32 formatted, windows 10 or 11 wont allow you to do this, but there are some 3rd party apps that will. Also I think you may be able to store a few simple patches without using an SD card, but the memory will be quite limited. Hope this helps.

Just a comment from me. I do actually have a Behringer Grind, and I would have got an AE Modular Grains as well, but I thought I'd have a go at building something. I like having ready built gear but it is good to build stuff as well.

How do these compare?
@tailbiterz18 күн бұрын
Hi, The Novation Peak is a very powerful and versatile hybrid synth. It has very powerful modulation routings along with good wavetable capable oscillators. Its one of my favourite synths. But it was only used for some background noise in the video. The Korg DW-800 is really good as well, especially for an early 80's synth. It has powerful multi stage envelopes, good wavetable digital oscillators and after that, the rest, I think, is analogue, although the analogue portions are digitally controlled. Most of the controls on the Peak are knob-per-function, not a lot of menu diving required. The DW-8000 has a single slider / buttons for all of the parameters. You use buttons to change the parameter number, and then use a slider to alter its value. It's relatively easy when you get used to it. The DW-8000 is hard to get hold of now, and old, but I think the Korg Wavestate is their new issue. Might not be the answer you were getting at, but they are both very good synths, and I like them a lot. Thanks for watching and please subscribe if you can.
@justaregularrobloxplayer567815 күн бұрын
@@tailbiterzthanks for your reply. The Peak is definitely more capable synth. More features and possibilities. But the DW 8000 sounds more alive and definitely more analog. Even though both are hybrid synths. I have an OBX8, Moog Muse and a behringer pro one. Want to add a hybrid synth for more softer sounds and for layering with the other 2 poly. But to my ears, despite its limitations the Korg seems to blend better with the other 2 since they also have that distinctive vintage sounds.

Really nice, have you probe the dreadbox typhon? Would you recomend it with the Edge or the minibrute 2 s?
@tailbiterz19 күн бұрын
Cheers for the comment. Sorry, I haven't got a Dreadbox typhon, but the reviews and sounds look pretty good for it. I like the Edge and the Minibrute 2S, I think they would both work well with the Typhon. But it depends on what you want to do... the Edge is more rhythm focussed and has an Analogue type sequencer, the Minibrute has a more advanced sequencer (but it depends on the way you think) and you could use it to control other midi synths. Minibrute also has velocity sensitive pads etc. Try looking at the online manuals and demos of them and it should give you a better idea.

I have had my Proton and a kobol Expander for a little bit. These 2 are great together. I like the quick patches you got going on the Proton after just receiving it. Sequencing from the Arturia Keystep?
@tailbiterz29 күн бұрын
Hi, thanks for watching. I was using the arp on the keystep a bit and I also used an old Roland MC-505 for sequencing. I'll hopefully use it a bit more over the next few weeks.
@PaPa-vo9loАй бұрын
Hello, nice sound! Could you share how you sync those 3 together? I am having a nightmare trying to . Thanks, keep up!
@tailbiterz29 күн бұрын
Hi, Sorry about the delay, I was off doing something else. Most of the time, I'm using an Arturia Keystep as a Midi sequencer and then using that to drive the Edge, Crave and Grind. If you want to sync the internal sequencers in the Grind and Crave to an external midi source there are some settings in the software app that can be used. I've also used the synths with the stand-alone sequencers...... I think if you connect the Craves gate output to the Edges trigger input you can get the Edge to sync to the Crave ... actually it might be the Edges ADV/ClK input, but I cant remember at the moment. If you just try the cable out in each one, you'll find out. Oh, you also have to have the Edges clock switch set to INT/EXT. When I get round to it, I'm going to upload some videos with combined patch sheets. They may include some non-midi sync connections. Hope this is of some use. Please subscribe if you can.

I Will buy the l apilable long cables with 2 inputs and outputs each. How should i to use this cables? For example to get the assing output from the grind on the Edge and the grind. Should i Connect assing output to one input on the grind, but on the Edge should i Connect that one on the inputs or outputs? or doesnt Matter?Only matters on one only synth? Really thanks, i Will apreciate a lot this information.
@tailbiterzАй бұрын
You can buy splitters to allow one output to connect to multiple inputs. Depending on the splitter type (i.e. if it has no protection) don't try and connect two outputs to one input as it might short the outputs together. The way I connected things was with the pitch output going to both the OSC1 and OSC2 CV inputs. If you have the Crave as well you can use the MULT function for this as well. If you did want to connect two outputs to one input you would need to make a passive or active CV mixer. Search "Passive fixed CV mixer" . Hope this helps a bit.
@tailbiterzАй бұрын
Unless you can confirm otherwise, only really connect outputs to inputs, whether it is on the same synth or another synth. You should be OK connecting an output from the Edge to an input on the Grind. Double check to manual though as it has allowable levels etc at the end.
@txetxubmxАй бұрын
@tailbiterz really thanks, cant input from grind to input of Edge so. That is what i was looking for. And could make one input from Edge to one output to the Edge And the same input to one output to the grind? So one synth with 1 input to the output on two synths, or to the same one but 2 outputs, that with the stackable cables or with the splitter? I really apreciate.

@txetxubmxАй бұрын
Y get mine! With the edge, how do you altern the banks sounds? I cant see the secuencer active in your video, thanks
@tailbiterzАй бұрын
Hi, Not sure if you've sorted this yet. But I used the CV outputs from an Arturia Keystep, so the keystep was syncing via midi using the KS sequencer. I've also used the pitch output from the Edge to change the models -> into CV mix1 then VC mix out into OSC MODEL. Also used KB CV from the Grind in the same way. The grind sequencer can then be used to control the OSC MOD. Hope this helps a bit. Should be a better description and patch sheet on the long form videos.
