EXCELLENT....Not many bass players can tackle the bridge of this song and the transition back to the main bass line they kind of fudge their way through but you did it!!!

Great job on a classic bassline… Mark Adams was ahead of his time and had that raw tone and funk… which he didn’t get enough credit. Kudos to you Bro! Slide

My older sister now owns the set neck solid mahogany 1974 Guild B-301 that my mom used for years in her band projects. I miss that bass too but I can still have access to that one.

Perfect cover. Most covers of this line have too many hammer ons because it’s so hard to slap with the thumb that quickly and evenly. Just do it on a P bass please mate.
@BassByTheBay2 жыл бұрын
Thanks. I'm pretty sure Freddie didn't play the original the way he plays it now (all thumps like I do here). I realized that the way to get it to sound like the original is to use your thumb like a pick -- like an early version of the technique Wooten popularized. I play it that way now because it sounds like the original... and it's easier to play 😊.

nice...anyway i can get the bass tabs for this song?
@BassByTheBay3 жыл бұрын
Thanks Keith. Sorry, I don't do tab. The best I can suggest is to view the section where I play it slowly and just further slow it down using KZbin's speed control.

Great stuff man. Could you play "Back Together" by Donny Hathaway and Roberta Flack? Thanks
@BassByTheBay3 жыл бұрын
Thanks, "Back Together Again" is a jam for sure! That and "Don't Make Me Wait Too Long" are my fave Flack/Hathaway tracks. I haven't done a video in years, *but* I have thought about BTA in the past, and I play it from time to time just cuz I like it, so we'll see.

Ha, you caught the 3/4 of a second? 😀 No discord for me, thx for asking.

@@BassByTheBay Yeah! I’m a part of the .5 seconds gang also! My pal Christopher Ryu and I want to collaborate with those who had shorter parts in another collab. Would you be interested?
@BassByTheBay4 жыл бұрын
@@elithetallguy Possibly, though I'm spread pretty thin and as you can see, I rarely do videos. The Charles thing was short and easy, so I did it. I'm actually planning to do a fairly complicated solo arrangement, but haven't taken the time to get it clean. Anyway, lemme know what you have in mind, and if it feels like I can do it quickly/easily, I can probably do it.
@elithetallguy4 жыл бұрын
@@BassByTheBay Thank you for getting back so quickly! This collab will be a little longer than Charles’ (about a minute). Further details about key and tempo will soon be determined. I also want to wish you best of luck on your solo arrangement!

What do you use to record video, I would like to start adding some bass videos to my channel?
@BassByTheBay5 жыл бұрын
I haven't recorded in quite a while, but most of my videos were recorded on a very small HD device made by some audio company whose name I can't recall -- this was before smartphone video was good. I think the last clip I recorded was on a Nexus 5 phone. Most smartphones take high-quality video now.
