There's no chance this was as this scripted narrative claims. It's how these castles in Ohio are explained away. To buy this ridiculous story, you'd have to be a complete fool.

I first visited the castle as a little girl late 1960's/early 1970's. Sir Harry let you go thru the small portion of the front door and pretend to behead you as you ducked to go through. You also didn't mention the green dragon in the dungeon. The story of it from Sir Harry scared mist young children. I also remember he loved to challenge kids to a game of chess or checkers. He also made molds to fill with cement and sell. My brother had a globe and a mini castle. I had a rabbit and the castle. @50 years later all my 3 kids did over nights there with thier scout troops. My youngest daughters troop sleept on top of the 3rd floor roof that was gated off in the vedio.

In 1962 we courted up that way on the parkway, in November, our entrance to the parkway closed for the winter. So all courting was done in front of her parents' fireplace. Not quite the same, but it worked. We lasted 60 years.

We went there it was worth the trip, but I would like to go after the rain so the creek would have waterfalls.

My husband and I went there on a spontaneous, "Hey, let's take a trip somewhere" when I was 17 or 18. He knew about this place and I was all, "Yay, castle!" thinking something huge and extravagant. 🤦‍♀ I was so disappointed. The drive was also a bit dodgy, but that was back around 2007/2008.

Po-ho-iki is the correct pronunciation. BTW: be aware that there are bacteria in the water that can make you quite sick. Also, last time we were there we had to share it with a couple having sex. We never, ever go into these ponds any more because of the nasty infectious stuff that can be in the water. BUT it was at Pohoiki that we watched turtles surfing the waves in the open ocean. Must have been half a dozen. Quite fun. I haven't been there in 3 years, but glad to see the update.

Those people who are nude are nasty . It’s never a local . The families need this beach . Since the lava flow . It’s not right the nudity and drugs .

Once again, thanks a lot. This used to be a place where the locals got permission from the owner. We found the gold coins, the still and the strawberry cave. Great, bring a trash bag. Oh ! Take the video down and shut up! Respect the property (PRIVATE) find the history and please...stop. Go to the gorge.

I would be scared to go in there due to bacteria of people in those areas having cesspools, the fact that lava is porous and that puna rains a lot mean the poop leaches into the water, combined with the heat of a hot spring, makes for some nasty bacteria including staph.

I love the Balsam nature trail. This forest, composed of high elevation spruces and Fraser firs, is very dark and dense, and has an otherworldly glow that makes me feel like I'm in a fairy tale or a dream. The overall vibe can be a bit eerie, but is so peaceful, quiet and beautiful. If you go in late spring or summer (remember, it's still winter up at these elevations until early May) you will see the forest floor covered with ferns. In the fall and winter, with bright green moss, giving it that otherworldly appearance. In late afternoon, the long shadows and golden sunlight filtering through and dappling the forest floor with gold and orange give it a very surreal feel. Another forest that has much the same feel as this one (with the fir trees just as densely packed) is the top of Richland Balsam, elev. 6410 in the Great Balsam mountains farther south and west.

I moved off the island 27 days before the 2018 flow first exploded. Friends have been trying to tell me what the warm pond is like now. Back in the day it was only the one in the jungle and I didn't think it was that hot would still describe it as slightly warmer than the warm pond that is now covered in lava. I wonder if it is a lot hotter now due to the hot spot shifting. Thank you for the footage so I can experience the change.

Nice video. I live about 3 hours from Mt. Mitchell. It used to be my 'go to' place to get away from Clemson SC area but not lately due to work. Mt. Michell was strikingly colder than the lower lying areas. One October wife and I could barely stand outside and rushed into the restaurant after a short stay outside--it was in 30s F and strong wind! I love Mt. Mitchell--in fact, my keychain is from Mt. Mitchell with a thermometer!
