Hi Josh, I'm currently working on a documentary about turbulence and would love to include this footage of yours - would that be ok with you? :)

The pilots pull up the flaps real quick soon after take off. I wonder if they were trying to accelerate through the storm clouds to get pass through it as quick as possible.

I know its sort of a winglet that makes it look like the wing is bent the entire time. But the moment they are rotating, you clearly see the actual wing flexing a little bit. Pretty impressive. Glad there was noone screaming.

You’re lucky. If you did this in a 737 for example that would’ve been a whole lot worse

My dad used to live in Kowloon City (near the infamous Kowloon Walled City) and its right next to the old Hong Kong Kai Tak International Airport. Older generation joked that you can poke the belly of the airplanes coming for a landing. It was wild. Unfortunately the airport is also extremly hard to land on because of the rough terrain near the airport. There was a hill painted with checker pattern to warn the pilot to not go any further and signaling lights were also installed on the roof of the short buildings to signal the pilot to turn the plane around by 90 degree.

At the 2:01 mark you can see the turbulence gremlins crawling on the leading edge of the wing!

Flaps not extended much for a quick take off. and then re-tracked quick for a speedy climb through a nasty storm cloud.

I used to love going to Hong Kong via the Kai Tek Airport, that was a fantastic and sometimes scary ordeal, it's just not the same now :/
@brucewayne3602 Жыл бұрын
Kai Tek nearly defies description - particularly landing & at night ... definitely a "you had to be there" to understand, people eating, watching tv, doing dishes seemed like a stones throw away ... Blessings to all the Pilots & Crew all those years !!!
