Video ends on Empire Blvd. At 13:02 Ebbets Field Apartments is seen on the left, the site where the Brooklyn Dodgers played prior to their move to Los Angeles after the 1957 season. The iconic Ebbets Field stadium was demolished in 1960). I lived on Bedford Ave between President St & Carroll St as a child in the 1970's. And as a big baseball fan, I thought frequently about what might have been: so disappointed the team left, the ballpark demolished and replaced by that ugly development. It took decades for the surrounding area to recover.

I love watching these videos, they’re not only a time capsule for my home over the years but also leaves me wondering what would’ve happened if I had stayed in New York instead of moving to pennsylvania during middle school. Great video!

Thanks for showing my old neighborhood back in the early 1970s. Lived at 754 Washington Avenue between Sterling Place and Park Place. That fortress building across the street is the satellite 77 police precinct. It's still standing.

For anyone who lived down here in the 80s like me, was the building that became the Game Zone store a video store called Video Maniacs? I lived around the corner and I was trying to remember exactly which building it was. Any help would be appreciated!

My old neighborhood. Used to walk on Jamaica Ave between 80th Street and Woodhaven Blvd all the time growing up there in the late 80’s up till 2004 when I moved out. Used to live on 91st Ave and 87th Street and THANK YOU for walking past my old home. Brings back so many memories.

Interesting how imposing the overhead rail lines are. Feels a bit like Kensington.. Or maybe this is just what American cities look like now. @ 2:34 - insanely long red light.

I lived in Ridgewood from age 1-8 1/2 (1961-1969) and wonder often how I would have turned out if my family hadn't left for the rural Northern NJ area. I fondly remember Our Lady of Miraculous Medal Church (my elementary school), the Oasis Theatre, Karl Ehmer's store on Fresh Pond Road, the local Bohack and so much more.

It's changed, but maybe not for the best. All of the mom-n-pop shops are closing and they're trying to commercialize the area. Rents are skyrocketing to 3-4k (yes, USD) for the same apartments you had way back when, and if you're even interested in a 1bed it could run you 1500$. All of williamsburg/bushwick and out-of-states are swarming in to ridgewood and there's coffee shops that sell a 7$ latte and a smoke shop every 2 blocks (not a joke). Remember morschers pork store on catalpa next to the church? Closed down this year. They even put a giant apartment tower next to the myrtle-wyckoff station that they developers are in a dispute over so it's been unfinished for 6 years now...
