@@username5441 Sorry for the long response. I'm looking into it. The best I can tell is that it was removed sometime in the last couple of years with no immediate plans to bring it back. Sorry, this tutorial is pretty out of date.

Love the video! Thanks for putting this out there. Question -- do you know if there's a way to animate a variable font's weight from left to right in a string on text? Similar to the first animation in this video. I'm dying to figure this out!!

@@evanwhite1381 that’s available in the beta right now. Otherwise you have to create a new text layer for each letter and use a falloff.

Great tutorial. Currently, the squash effect and control center are only available in Pro. Pro is a subscription-based model, which unfortunately is one of the big reasons I have for avoiding Adobe and would prefer an alternative like Calgary :(

Totally understandable. I thought that too. After affinity’s sale to Canva, I feel less anti-subscription and more anti-big-tech-taking-advantage-of-me. The people behind Cavalry are nowhere near big tech and the community that’s built up around it is pretty fantastic. But hey, to each their own. I’m glad this could be helpful to you anyway.

Would you use this program also as the 'main' video editor? So bringing a blender amimation, voice over and animated vectors together into one video?

Not quite yet. I'd recommend Resolve for that. Cavalry doesn't handle EXRs too consistently. Color spaces are totally fleshed out, and many sound features are still in beta. Honestly, I don't like using AE for online/finishing editing either. IMO, that step is best done in a video editor like Resolve, Final Cut or Premiere.

this is not a tutorial, youre just talking to yourself. Not everybody can see your screen, mnaybe try and zoom in on whatever tiny objects youre clicking instead of me squinting my eyes just to see what youre doing.

Very great effect. I like Cavalry very much. I want to get into 2D animation and I get along super well with the program. For Premium to pay a yearly subscription I find ok. The roadmap convinces me that further development is definitely there.

Advice to others: If your number range is going from 120 to 50 instead of 50 to 120 when rotating, you need to edit the number range graph and flip it horizontally. I'm fairly certain that this was done but edited out of the video by accident or otherwise overlooked.

very interesting. how about illustrator file integration. I'm often supplied with these by design clients who want me to animate their layouts. how easy or not is that. there are some plugins for AE that make it relatively easy.

ai integration is limited to importing svg files. Adobe likes their walled garden. I'd love to see more Affinity Designer integration though.

Have you ever found a way to import groups or layers into Cavalry? I tried Affinity and Illustrator, but always end up with a list of shapes without grouping when I separate layers. Groups are preserved in Figma or other apps upon importing SVG. Thanks!

Sorry just getting to this. It should be available now. Sometimes I’ve noticed features disappear from Cavalry for a version or more and then reappear better and stronger than before. Like feature metamorphosis.

I was wondering is it possible to edit PSD file layer by layer like in AE but in Cavalry instead? I tried importing a PSD file with separate layers in it, but it seems that Cavalry didn't pick that up, or I couldn't find a way to edit it per layer :(

Is there a way to keep the layers... from the vector program to CAVALRY...? It happened to me that I had an illustration with characters grouped by layers... when I went to CAVALRY it did not respect the groups nor the layers... and it broke it down as separate elements.

Cavalry makes it easy to rig up just about anything. I’ve had to make these again more recently in AE and it made me miss the Cavalry workflow.

@@nicktheritter I image going back is rough. I recently had to build and animate a line graph with fifty data points and numbers in AE. It took so much time to build and render. It probably would have been much faster to make in Cavalry.
