Good advice for sure. I already owned a few ml140s so that was my first open, the 150s are good too. Both have nice open keyways so less to deal with compared to Yale & Abus etc. These are also excellent for practicing daily during your first few weeks because you can try out varying levels of tension or different picks etc. Starting on nicely made but inexpensive 4 pin padlocks or eurocylinders is a good way to go before moving up to something more demanding. Cheers 🍻

oh damn yeah that can be very off-putting when you start out and cant open your starter locks. When i tried this hobby a few years ago I gotten a 140 and It was not working for me at all. Which most likely made me stop trying thinking I was just very bad at it and its just not meant for me. I now bought another 140 and its most likely my easiest lock. And that Old 140 is still not happening for me haha

I think it was Sandman who said; don't worry yourself with make and model, just focus on lock in front of you. What he meant was, a higher belt level lock can be easier than a lower one, and even two of the same make and model locks can be worlds apart in terms of how easy or hard they are to open. I've had blue belt locks open like it's nothing, and I've had yellow or even white I struggled with. But, yeah, the cheap ones just talk jibberish, I can't get any feedback on them sometimes
@Dotslocks14

@ Well said.And you are right it’s the lock you have in front of you that counts.My goal is and always has been to open locks and get better at doing so.This is why I love to Rake but also love to SPP.Both are skills in their own right and my aim is to improve on both skill sets!!Thanks for your input mate it’s always appreciated 👍🏻

@Dotslocks14 yeah, no probllama. Thanks for sharing your experience. Also, even though I preffer spping, that's why I need to work on my raking, because I find I can open cheaper locks easier by raking. Open is open, and the wider the range of skills the more locks opened 😁
