A comment about offenses in general. I was an assistant coach on a youth team from the time they weren't able to tie their own shoes until they went to high school. I worked with several different head coaches and each one had a different offense. We had good years and we had bad years. Some of the coaches and their offenses were better than others. But what I learned and firmly believe is that the best offense is the one that best fits the type of players on the team. Sure, there are all kinds of players on a team, but, particularly for youth football with small rosters, it is often the case that a team matches up against other teams as smaller or larger, faster or slower. And there are other characteristics that are a little harder to describe in one or two words. If players on a team like an offense and that offense plays to their strengths then they are more likely to have success. When the team was in 80 lbs. league we lost our first five games. The coach was new that year but open minded. We changed the offense in the middle of the season to a Single Wing to take advantage of our outside speed and run away from our small interior line. It worked. We were competitive for the rest of the season, which was amazing to me because we had only one week to put in the new offense. The next year and another new head coach and he brought the Delaware Wing-T. We had a lot of success with this one too as it borrows a lot from Single Wing. We went 8-2. It was a big improvement over the prior year and the kids loved it. The next year we had yet another new coach and he like the Double Wing. We'd also picked up a few stud players and have enough kids to run both an A and a B team. The new coach swore that we would never loose a game. That wasn't the case. We did achieve the same record as the prior year (8-2), but the new coach was expecting a championship and didn't get it. My point is the kids did the best when the coaches paid attention to them rather than being committed so some philosophy of school of football.

lots of haters here...you simply can't defend this offense effectively without tackling every potential ball carrier and that's where the pass comes in handy. This is very well executed and they play like juggernauts!

"Coach Harrison and his Double Wing offense has never missed making the play-offs and has played in One State Title game and 2 Semi-Final games in those 5 years." Sounds like something is working. Maybe slower is better sometimes huh?

Lotta beef on that o line. Double A gap following the trapping guard and big beef at D tackles puts a big dent in this offense. Would have been nice to see it run against nose tackles that weigh more than 150. Great O line work!

The HS where I'm from used this for 2 seasons and went 9-2 and 10-2 then went back to their preferred pro set and wishbone and now go 3-6 and 2-7 since getting away from it. Hmmm numbers to me don't lie.

I understand your thinking, but this is only about 60 years old, not 120 and when it is run with disciplined athletes it is darn near impossible to stop. It also is great to teach to kids as it forces your linemen to really understand fundamentals.

Many have tried. We don't allow it. In this offense you have to win the neutral zone. gotta coach it up. Plus, the Defense never knew which ear-hole was going to get busted. I wish I had the opportunity to coach the kids you coached there! When I arrived, they were still learning stances and which side is offense and which side was defense. Very Soft. haha

Just can't get on board with an offense that sets football back about 120 years to the rugby days. I sure hope someone gets smart and sells everyone on the way to stop it.

I've seen the double wing in action and it's worked pretty damn good in every game I've seen... so I don't doubt it's success.. However, based on the first half of this video, it seems clear to me that the main reason the offense is working is because the offensive line is absolutely destroying the defensive line on every play.

I was thinking the exact same thing. Look at the production this coach got out of players who might not be track stars, but are disciplined and impose their will at the point of attack. Just goes to show that you don't have to have an all-around superior team to be successful in this offense.
