Every now and then you see a video on KZbin which makes you feel that despite the cavalcade of trash that YT brings into the world maybe it's good that it exists after all because of rare & precious gems like this.

I'm here a year after the posting, but nice to see Dave is still around and looking good. Short comment on 1972 Olympics - I was always intrigued by the look of indifference Dave displayed just after crossing the finish line; I'm imagining him thinking "OK, race over, time for a beer". No dramatic hootin' and hollerin' for the TV audience's amusement. Best wishes to all back there in Ohio.

I watch that race over and over and over and still get chills.....I was in the hospital at age 18 - the day after surgery (from a pole vault injury ) and the day after my birthday when the race was run...... Magical

Dave has been an inspiration to me since his 1972 800 meter Olympic come from behind victory. I'm 74 and I still watch that race from time to time when I'm dealing with difficulties. He is a genuinely humble person as well.

I love this insight!!! In our mental health community, we say "Secrets make you sick" because often we are hiding the condition. This ties in so beautifully for those with a condition that it makes the path lonely and for loved ones to remember to take the time and energy and sometimes ignore the "just leave me alone" comments and go in anyway for the talk, the laugh, the meal, the hug. Thank you!!!

AWW, thank you so much for commenting! I appreciate your candid response that "secrets make you sick." Just sitting with someone, not saying a word, is also powerful. I can't stress that one enough!
