So sorry to have missed this session as I was travelling. My heart goes out to all our sisters and the people of Ladakh who are in this struggle to conserve the future for all us. Having visited the area a few months ago, I feel close to them as we see the capture of their sensitive ecosystem by business houses and the army. While we dread what the forthcoming election heralds, even the Congress manifesto speaks of encouraging mining for future development leading to 5% of GDP. Whither the earth, whither the life!!!!

I admire and respect you @wangchuk - but when will you understand that UT is taking of control of ladakh by the central government - the exact opposite direction of statehood and 6th schedule - which means greater independence from the centre. Is there a possibility of Ladakh getting into a conversation with Kashmir for the purpose of protecting the Himalayas. Please try not to be naive.

This is where Indian Democracy lies. It has left the scientist, academicians, intellectuals on the brute mercy. They aren't left to speak or raise voices, no justice, no respect , and those who try to do so, they are succumbed by the gangs of liars who would set pogrom and ask the vultures to Lynch, troll, and finally prosecute the lovers of humanity. And Sonam Wanchuk sadly isn't a different case for such authorities who are saddled to gift all the resources of our motherland in few hands, so that they make sure to exploit the last drop of the blood (resources) from veins of motherland on the name of development. But it is a pathetic reality that as a citizen we are under massive threat- Democratically, environmentally, culturally etc. Finally, no wonder if we don't rise then the time isn't much far away, when the bigot thought would creep on our door, plunder every word and letters of 'LOVE AND DIVERSITY', Humanism would be redesigned with bloody hand and vampires would all be set to suck the blood and flesh. Therefore, it is the wake up call for us to standby together. Sonam is Laddakh, And Laddakh should lie in our hearts and souls. Therefore, their fight isn't just for themselves, but in minus degree, under the open sky, they have dared to challenge the unchallenged autocratic regime for everyone of us. We must give voice to their chanting slogans.
