Good video! That looks really clean. And. What is a shade cloth? lol. Is there a video about why and where to use it?
@getyerwellies6651Ай бұрын
Shade cloth helps keep temperatures lower so it is useful in very hot areas. It reduces the intensity of the suns heat but also light so it slows growth too. It’s a bit of a trade off but I like it for tomatoes. I have mentioned it before but look out for a more detailed look at it in the near future. You have inspired me to do a video specifically about that. Hope your garden season is going well. Thank you for watching 😀

Wool. I have used it for years as a mulch. 10-1-4 , retains >30% weight of water, doesn't attract termites. The wool price for meat breed sheep is so low that it is not cost effective for small producers to take it to market. Ask your local extension agent about small producers and offer them maybe $10 for a large bag full. Help small producers. I do cover it with crushed leaves or thin layer of chips in public view areas since the white kinda 'glares' . Also very good for downspouts or other potential erosion or bare ground areas since weighted down wool will filter out particulate matter and slow down the water

@getyerwellies66513 ай бұрын
Thanks for watching and sorry you are not having any luck yet. I find the soil method to be the most successful way to do this I reviewed how I do it on my video How to grow Japanese purple sweet potato ( part 1 ). Even in soil I keep the potatoes pretty moist and in a warm place in the house. They really like heat and humidity to grow well. Some growers use inhibitors to prevent sprouting in transit or in the store. This can slow the process way down. Try to verify on the label that your original potato is organic to avoid that possibility. Check out that video one more time to make sure you are set up right. Good luck. You’ll get there 😀
@TSGIRL312 ай бұрын
When I put my Purple Sweets in water, it took a long time (Initially placed on a table in a glass jar with water in front of a window). Once I set the potatoes on top of my fire place where they got some good heat, they started sprouting really good and now I have so many slips. Sweet potatoes like the heat so try a heat source for them to sit under while in water. Many people say that heat mats work.

Best video I have seen on doing this... really...! One thing to try (I'm going to) .... Why not just take the same step drill bit you used for the drain pipe and drill a hole in the bottom of the fill pipe, maybe two even, opposite sides from each other near bottom end.....??? No worries as to an angle needing to be sawed at the end this way.... Also, with regards to the landscaping fabric, you can use any cloth type material as long as it is synthetic and will not rot due to being under water. Check with your local thrift stores for bargains on the material you could use....
