Been in the MRI scan twice now,Went in it when I slipped my spine discs,That was about three years ago,Then went back to it again about a few months ago after having a seizure and smashing my head on the ground when I lost lost consciousness,Cut my head open,Luckly the good news,I did not break my skull,It was a deep cut,Been about 11 weeks now,The cut on my forehead is still recovering,The cut was that deep,I could see my skill in the cut,Luckly I don't have seizure's very often,Not a good time at A and E again

Have had 15+ mris in different machines over the years previously with no issues. Even fell asleep in one during the scan once. Was supposed to complete an MRI in a mobile Alliance Medical MRI this afternoon. I was told that I couldn't use my own earplugs and had to use the ones provided (foam NR25s) which I knew from experience were useless. My ears felt like they were imploding. Asked the technician to stop and I got them to give me my own high noise cancelling earplugs before they continued the scan. Although significantly less painful, the noise seemed really excessive. I again asked to stop and complained about the excessive noise - to be told that noise cancelling headphones weren't available - they only had ordinary ones. I said I wasn't willing to proceed further as I felt very unwell. My hearing is muffled ever since. I had perfect hearing prior to this experience. Now have to contact the referring doctor and request again an mri but in a different facility that has modern equipment. Only hope my hearing isn't permanently damaged.

What about radiation exposure from a CT scan?
@specialstone91532 жыл бұрын
Why are some people told you can get a brain non-contrast mri, and if you ask is it radioactive, they say no. What you arent told is that they still want to inject you with something that puts you in danger!

I never think I would have an anxiety or panic attack for something like this in my entire life. I have been going Universal , ride everything scary , fast, dangerous, but MRI is something else, I went inside with music on my ears and closed eyes, first 10 second I had terrible feeling that I was about to push emergency button but I said to my self just be patient and finish it up. I did but I promised my self that I would live healthy and never going to have to do mri again. I only can say this much to not scare other people, it did happened 4 hours ago I am still not feeling good. I still think I have panic attack. I thought I didn’t have claustrophobia , I think I did and I learn in a hard way. I wish I didnt close my eyes, it might be easier experience I dont know, but if I ever needed again I should use some sedation or something. I already start thinking how they can build this machine little bit less scary, or can they just build one room with the same idea. Some people they go in and out several times, so dont take me wrong, maybe it is hard for some people. My doctor sister went inside several times and she didnt feel anything like I felt so please read and be prepare before you go in it. I am still reading about it to overcome my fear if I ever going to needed again.

chng.it/WyNhgGXLpC Hey, I just signed the petition "Cancer Council Australia: Approve lung cancer screening in Australia" and wanted to see if you could help by adding your name. Our goal is to reach 10111 signatures and we need more support. It is the grey area of law, that needs higher medical standards, and screening. The Australian gov provides rebates for imaging and pathology services, as they do for skin cancer clinics .You can read more and sign the petition here; chng.it/WyNhgGXLpC

Anyone wondering what the chirping sound you hear in this video let me explain... There are 2 parts to this 1. The compressor This is the driver for the coldhead which I will explain later this uses helium as the refrigerant gas and requires water cooling due to the large amount of helium gas it has to chill 2. The coldhead The coldhead is the main part of this refrigeration system this is used because an MRI scanner uses superconducting magnets which need to be cooled to -269 degrees Celsius the problem is that the magnet generates heat during operation causing the bath of over 1000 liters of liquid helium inside a cryostat at extremely high vacuum pressure for zero cold loss boils off and turns to gas when exposed to the heat of the magnet this is were the coldhead comes in action the coldhead is used to re liquify the helium gas which is always boiling off back into liquid again the way this works is that the cold area of the coldhead is dipped inside the liquid helium bath and a valve ontop of the unit which is NOT exposed to the helium gas pushes and pulls on a piston to pump the super chilled helium into the cold reigon which cools down to -269 degrees Celsius the piston creates the chirping sound as it pushes and pulls on the helium gas which has a very high pressure it pushes the gas into the cold reigon and pulls it back into the compressor where it is re chilled and sent back to the coldhead. This is a cycle which goes on for 24 hours a day 7 days a week and 365 days a year the coldhead never stops unless there is a power cut where the compressor will stop pumping helium to the coldhead. Without coldheads all the helium would boil off rapidly through vent pipes and into the atmosphere and when there's is not enough helium surrounding the magnet it will shut down and realease all the existing liquid helium

Had my first one a couple of days ago. Not a load of laughs, but it was bearable. The first half hour I just closed my eyes and tried to relax. After that I tried singing old songs, and the effort of trying to remember the words passed the time nicely. Still, I must admit I was glad when they let me out.

I had one a few days ago. It was hot and uncomfortable. My arm was the part getting scanned. And after 5 minutes in my arm started to cramp due to the wierd positioning. I hit the ball they gave me to tell them. And instead of being concerned. The guy tells me "If you cant be still, we will have to reschedule". After that i started crying due to the pain. I ended up just suffering in pain, because i did not want to rescedule and come back. At the end my arm was shaking really bad due to the pain. And it hurt to move my arm for 30 minutes. It was a horrible experience that did not have to be. I had also had an MRI 7 years ago. And the techs then made me feel way more comfortable. So if you have a good MRI tech with a good bedside manner, its makes it a lot more pleasant.

I got my second scan today tbh I liked it bc I could relax and feel the cool air. I got my whole body put in too. (Head first) it’s not bad at all just a little loud through the ear plugs and that’s it. It went by really fast too. My mom was like your where in there for 2 and a half hours. I was like really.
