I wouldn’t doubt that at all. Aside from double checking the scale to ensure accuracy, It does seem slightly odd, but not crazy. I don’t even have that bar anymore, so I can’t even grab it to double check on my end. Furthermore, it also depends on which stihl standard bar you have as there a a couple variations. It also depends on the gauge, when the bars were manufactured, where they were manufactured, etc. Nothing worth losing sleep over 😂. Thanks for commenting!👍🏼

@@Kirks_Custom_Chainsaws All this is so I can stand up and buck. Working in the glass industry, lifting full semi loads of household windows off the tail of the trailer by hand and huge commercial thermo panes ruined my back. I'm trying to create the lightest, fastest setup I can. Good posture and speed for the win. I also have an echo 620p with the echo 27" bar, and a 4910 I bought to have Dyno Joe port. I had to wait until I got the bill from the body shop for my 96 Impala SS. Ya Never know if they are going to bait and switch. Well, he did. I stripped it of the glass bumpers, mirrors lights, handles, and prepped everything but the body. Told me 3500-4000 and wanted 8 grand! Thats me putting the whole car back together too. Now Dyno Joe raised his prices to 400 no matter the saw plus shipping there and back. I'm not paying more for porting than the 4910 saw! Takes all the fun out of it. Thats why I bought the 562. Put a muffler on and it runs with most ported saws except another 562 like yours. If a drag strip was black walnut, you've got an 11 second saw. In car terms, that's 600 horsepower. Thanks again for the video. That was a huge surprise!

Thank you for the complement on the 562, I hope my mkii turns out this good or maybe even a little better 🤞🏼 when I get it broke in. When I have some more time, I’m planning to try it (562) with a 32” 3/8 skip, and then maybe even give it a try with the 32” .325. Either way, I’ll upload videos & let you know as I do the testing👍🏼

This works as we all just saw, but you can order the parts out of a 461 and install them without any mods. I did that on my 362 and 400, works great. And yes, they both needed it. 1 tank of fuel = 3/4 tank of oil which is how I like it.
@Kirks_Custom_Chainsaws27 күн бұрын
Thank you, yes, everyone is aware that you can swap oilers, and for some that is the way to go. The point for the video is for those with the ability to do it themselves, and not have to spend the $$ on new parts. It’s really a simple mod to do. I personally prefer to do things myself, but, to each his own. I can honestly say, with this mod, both of my 400’s will oil a 42” bar & chain with no issue (and the pull the 42” like a champ as well). I started doing this mod on the larger saws to run longer bars, and for people who needed the extra oil for milling. Once I saw how minimal the oil flow was on the 400’s I had to modify them too. 👍🏼 thx again for commenting, saw safe!

Hi Kirk. I just found your channel via the chain bar weight comparison. Excellent video by the way. I just purchased a 562xp Mark 2 and wondered if it would pull a 32 inch bar and chain without sacrificing too much cut speed and performance. I only plan on a muffler mod. What's your opinion. One more thing. If it does work well, what chain style would you run? Thank you.
@Kirks_Custom_ChainsawsАй бұрын
Awesome, thank you! Congratulations on your new saw! I have also have a 562 mkii. I ported it not too long ago, but haven’t had much time to run it since. Planning to break it in & see what it can do soon though. 32” bar is too much for that saw in stock form, even with a muffler mod. However, if it’s your only option, use full skip chain, keep the rakers no lower than .025”, always keep it sharp, and you should do ok. Most of the full skip chain you will find will be full chisel, you can find some semi chisel, but the full should be fine, just keep it sharp (repeating myself because it’s that important 👍🏼). The suspension won’t like it much, but just be careful and take your time, don’t try to force it.👍🏼 enjoy that thing man, it’s a great saw!
@wheelstandrАй бұрын
@ Thanks a lot Kirk! I saw that 562 you had on another video and figured you had at least tried it since you had several 32” bars. Yesterday, I saw an 8-9 month old video of Buckin putting a 7 pin sprocket to run a .325 full house chain on a 32” bar. It gave me hope. He seemed to like it but said he needed to mod the muffler. I’m surrounded by people terrified and stuck thinking a 20 inch is all you need and long bars are scary because of kick backs. So, I can’t burrow one to try. For now, I’ll see what it’s like running a 28”. I bought the Husqvarna lightweight x cut a week before I found your bar weight video, and an x cut full house 3/8 chain. I’m hoping that will work for me. Let me know if you ever try that smaller sprocket and chain. I bet your saw would pull a 32 with a 3/8 full house though.
@Kirks_Custom_Chainsaws29 күн бұрын
@@wheelstandr I run 28" on both of my 562's but i will definitely try a 32" 3/8 full comp when I have time and let you know how it does. One of the neat things about the 562 is you can use the clutch drum off a 550 (if I recall correctly.... it's been a while) which has a small spline (15mm) for the rim drive sprocket and put a 7 pin .325 on it and make a longer .325 chain to run on it. It would also require changing the bar tip, but that is a simple task as well. Even though I have all the things to do this, I'll probably just test with 3/8 though 🤣. As far as kickback goes, you are far more likely to get hurt from kickback on a short bar as apposed to a long bar. Very seldom do I ever use anything under 24" unless it's on one of my top handle climbing saws. I think I only have one saw with a 20" bar and that's my ported 543xp clone. Just my personal preference though, certainly not trying to convince or sway anyone from using what they prefer and or are comfortable with..👍🏻 Where are you located? I have a modded muffler for the 562xp mkii if you're interested. Believe it or not, the mufflers are not interchangeable on the 562 oe and 562 mkii. They changed a lot on the mkii.

@Kirks_Custom_ChainsawsАй бұрын
Skip chain is typically not faster. It used to minimize the load on the saw when pulling a longer bar. They are also used on some softer woods to clear the chips better and not clog up. In some cases, depending on what wood you’re cutting they may cut as fast as full comp (provided the saw can pull the full comp) but I’ve never experienced one cutting faster. Hope this helps, saw safe!

So far so good!👍🏼 something I’ve learned about the auto tune (and mtronic)saws is they like to be started & warmed up, used, and then allowed to idle for a bit before shutting them off. This may not be the most convenient thing for a climbing saw, but it seems to work well on this one. 👍🏼 It takes some getting used to, because we are so accustomed to starting the saw, making the cut, shutting it off and and hanging it on our saddle to reposition, it’s easy to forget to let it idle a bit. Especially now that so many of us are adopting battery saws into our arsenals. With them, ya just push a button & go👍🏼

I agree. Right now, I think the Stihl ES light bars are the best option on the market. As far as the saws go, I'm torn... the performance I'm getting out of my ported ms400's is amazing for a 67 cc saw (pulling up to a 42") but my ported 545, 562, 572, 585, etc. are so much fun to run and IMO a little more ergonomically friendly. How much heavier? I’ve been thinking about that since I read your comment. I’m honestly not sure. To the best of my knowledge it should be a little lighter if I’m not mistaken. I mean, the 400 has a magnesium piston which is very light as far as pistons go, but I can see it making a difference in overall saw weight. @Kirks_Custom_Chainsaws4 ай бұрын
Could be a couple different things. Some of the carbs are very temperamental. Set both screws at 1-1/4 turns out and try tuning from there. If that doesn’t work, check the metering arm in the carb. A lot of them are not set properly. Also, check spring tension on the metering arm spring. A friend of mine figured out that a lot of the Chinese carbs have too much spring under the metering arm. If this is the case, typically cutting 3 coils off the spring will fix it. Lastly, these saws are notorious for air leaks. If you have any way to perform a pressure test and a vacuum test, I would start there. Even a slight air leak will cause a saw to not tune right and or run out of tune quickly. I hope this helps! Saw safe & let em know how you make out.👍🏼

Thank you for your comment.👍🏼 Personally, I have had very good luck with the stihl light es bars. I will definitely be keeping an eye on them though. Thank you for the information !👍🏼

Great! Thank you! I just picked up a 24” tsumura premium light bar, but I haven’t had a chance to weigh it yet. I’ll have to update when I do.
