Regarding thin paper and wet mediums…..You could apply transparent gesso or Daniel Smith transparent watercolour ground… all Amazon books or flimsy paper books become wet mediums suitable… it gives the paper a slight texture like watercolour paper. I have only tried it for watercolour and Derwent inktense. If you want to use water based markers, use satin glaze… it does a wonderful job! No bleed through or ghosting… for the record, I have not invented this… I learned from different channels… my colourful country life, zucchini kitty, and others. It works for double-sided pages. Research on channels for all details and how to do… it will change your coloring life ! 😉☺️. At least, it did for me! 😊

That's also the reason, why I've never ordered a book from her. I find the animals somehow ok (but not all of them), but these gnomes/fairies and so on... terrible. I thought I was alone in this. 😂 I have a rule, that I have to like 80% of the pages in a book. If I don't, I don't buy it. Wild Summer is 100% 😍 It's just amazing.

From which country do you want to order? I have checked on US. There it is quite a bit more expensive. I'll give you the ISBN. You just put this number in the Amazon search bar and the book will pop up, if they have it: 978-2019461782 And here is link to Amazon US. But it is a long link. Klara Markova's book Tenderful Enchantments is no longer in print. I agree with you that I am not crazy about the creatures in her illustrations but I do love the rest of her drawings. Plus the paper in all of her books is so nice. I love all of Joseph Catimbang's books. The illustrations get me excited to color them and the paper is fantastic. Amberle I agree with you, it is hard to get started coloring in his books because I don't want to mess it up. But I usually get started by doing a color a long, so that takes a lot of uncertainty out of it. Thanks for sharing your haul.

Thanks for your message Lisa! I think I will jump into the Tenderful Enchantments after all. There are a few pages, I really like and so I will find out how I like the paper. But I also think, that the paper will be very good. I'm always excited and hesitant to get started in the better quality books. I don't have that with the Amazon printed books. There it is quite easy for me to jump in. Hence I have colored more in those books, compared to my quality books. Have a great day and happy coloring! 💕😊

Does anyone know where in the USA I can purchase the Klara Markova books and the Korean book? (especially the Korean book!). Any help will be greatly appreciated.
@amberlesilencia37288 күн бұрын
@@carratt13 Hi there, I'm afraid to say, I think the Klara books you can only buy on her own Etsy shop. I don't think you can get them from anywhere else. However, if anyone knows anything better, please let us know. And for the Korean book, I think you actually also can only purchase from outside the US. At least I don't know any US shop, which would sell these, but I'm from the EU. So, I think Coolcraftbooks on Etsy has them. But they are sending from Korea, so the shipping might be quite expensive. The other option would be Decomade.pl. They send from Poland. However, if anyone knows shops from US, let us know. Thank you.

Thank you for flipping that Critterville 3! I also was looking for a flip of it about a month ago. I couldn't find anything and was going to just get book 2, but then decided to wait. So thanks again for the flip, now I can decide which one I want. Klara Markova books never really appealed to me either. I find the pages look a bit cluttered, with too much going on. 🙅♀ I also purchased Fantastic Worlds and haven't colored in yet either. I wish they wouldn't have done so many double page spreads. It's definitely a beautiful book, but I rarely do double page spreads. It takes me forever to just finish a single one. 😆 I've had that Furballs book for awhile and just recently tried my inktense, Neocolor, and Albrecht Durer's in it and I will say it takes water very well. I just did a page in it and I literally saturated the paper with water mediums and it held up very well. I did have to end up ironing it out because I used too much water, but it never ripped or tore -- and ironed out quite flat. I did another page before that one and did not iron it and it still ended up laying very flat after I closed it and let it settle. The paper is almost like watercolor paper. Not quite, but it has that cotton feel to it. I think you will enjoy your water mediums in it. Yes, I would like to see a video with the Eriy books and comparing the paper. That's crazy that you aren't able to get the Mythographic books. I don't know what version of Wild Summer you have, or if there are even different versions, but in the last couple Mythographic I have purchased (newer ones) the paper seems different. It seems a little smoother, but with a bit more tooth? I also didn't have that dingy/dirty look to the paper after coloring on it. Not sure if it just my imagination or if they changed the paper? LOL😄 Let me know if your paper feels different once you color in it. Thanks for sharing your haul! Happy Coloring! 💖
@amberlesilencia37289 күн бұрын
Hahaha, yes I totally get you! It also takes me forever to fnish a single page! 😆 Yeah, the book is definately beautiful, but I think there is only one single page in it. And I rarely ever decide to color a double spread. Oh, you are welcome for the Critters Ville 3 Flip. I also was looking for a flip for a while I coulnd't find one. Then I found one person, who was flipping all 3 together in one video and for me, the third one had the most images, I wanted to color. But the second book has a beautiful halloween page in the beginning. One of the best pages as well. I almost got both of them, just because I wanted to have this Halloween page. 😊I was just hoping, that no one would be offended, because of what I said about the Klara book. That was my only concern. Oh, that is so good to know about the Furballs book! I have not tried it yet, but I was hoping it would work with water mediums, since I really wanted to try my Inktense in it and if the paper is that good, maybe I could also try some actual watercolor in it. So, paper wrinkling is no problem for me. But did it bleed through with all the water used? I think I heard someone else also talking about the paper being different in the wild summer. It was in one of the Flipthroughs I had watched. Can't remember though, who it was. I think I will notice it, when I try my first page in this book. It is also printed in Canada. The other ones as well. It is really annoying, that I can't get the Mythographic books here. I hope it will be better soon. But it is not only the Mythographic. Basically it is every book, that is not Amazon printed. I wanted to order a Teresa book with the gnomes. One of the books was cancelled a day after I ordered it, though it says it is in stock and the second one should come in a couple of months. When I preorder I usually get the books, but just a few months later after release. Yes, will definately let you know, once I have started coloring in this book. I must be my favorite Catimbang book now! Thanks for leaving me a lovely long comment and happy coloring to you too! 💕😘

@@amberlesilencia3728 Yes! I saw that Halloween page in Crittersville, so cute! Which is why I might get book 2? Hopefully no one gets offended. We should be allowed to have a difference in opinion, but yes I know what you mean. No, there was no bleed through in the Furballs book. I kept checking because I used so much water. I didn't really mean to use so much, but I wasn't getting the look I wanted so I kept adding more pigment. 😄 There was a teeny little bit in one spot (barely noticeable) but that was because (again) I used so much water. @amberlesilencia3728Ай бұрын
Hi there, happy you found this useful! With Gelatos or Gel Crayons I don't use a fixative. They usually don't rub off, once they are fully dried. Have to say it might relate a little bit on the amount of layers, that you do. But with a few layers you won't find problems. However you need to let it try very well with your book open. At least over night. Just when they are fully dried, they won't come off. You can test it with your finger. Wishing you a lot of fun trying it out! By the way a cheap brand of Gel Crayons would work good as well!

The months lately have been flying by. I have been thinking the same thing. I have a page in Mythomorphia and Mythic World started and have abandon both of them for now. I will go back and finish at some point. I just find Kerby's pages a bit tedious. I love his work, but they are a lot to get through when coloring them. I just needed a break. I have been coloring witches this month so far. Sam Way Coloring has a witch hashtag running in July, so I have been obsessed with coloring witches this month. I think I am just ready for Halloween and Fall coloring.🖤🎃😆🧡 I never get sick of coloring those themes during the season, and it goes by too quick, so I try to start coloring these pages in August. The witch hashtag just gave me an excuse to start digging out some of my books. 😄 Of course I am picking pages that are witch neutral, like no pumpkins or halloween elements just yet. I will at least wait until the middle of August probably before I start coloring those themes. Thank you for sharing all your plans! 💖

Oh yes, the time passes so quickly, it is insane. Oh yeah, I love Kerbys work as well and really want to color him more, but it is quite a time investment. Hopefully I will be able to finish my double spread though this quarter. Oh you are coloring witches already?! I'm holding myself back for now. I could color them all year and actually I think, I could color them all year. Maybe not the ones with pumpkins, but in general. And I love my witches books. Might be my absolute favorite topic for coloring, all the witches books. I think I will start in August the lastest as well, because I really want to make sure, that I get some done. And October alone is always so short and there are of couse other halloween pages, that I want to do, beside my witches. Uhh, I need to checkout this hashtag. Hehehe, coloringwise I'm also already eying my halloween and fall books. I can't wait and definately want to have an early start with them. Thanks for leaving me a beautiful comment like this! Great video, I never thought to use midtone and add highlights with white. I use the lightest color marker as base and go dark from there. So, thanks for sharing your technique! And yes, I've had a problem with some finished pages yellowing other pages in the book, and my markers aren't cheap, very disappointing.
@amberlesilencia3728Ай бұрын
Hi Looni. When I started with the base layering I did the same thing. Used only light colors. Only later I found out, that it doesn't matter and I can go lighter. It is a lot of fun. I think, it even speeds up the process, because you don't need to layer as much. I'm always afraid of yellowing. So far, I hadn't had this problem. And I hope, that I will never find a yellowed page in my book. I have heard, that the black Ohuhu marker should yellow and I had used it lately for backgrounds. So, I'm quite nervious now and put a lot of paper inbetween the pages. Hopefully it will help to prevent from it. Have a great day and thanks so much for leaving me a lovely comment 💕

All your pages are stunning, as usual! I love your Cris Ortega page, so pretty! I wonder if you have different paper in your Cris Ortega books? I am in the US and the paper in her books here is so bad. It's very rough and has absolutely no tooth. It is different than the standard Amazon paper we get in our books here it seems. I can color on that Amazon paper just fine, may not be my favorite paper, but I can still get decent results. This paper is so bad in her books I can barely color on it, even with alcohol marker base. I looked in the back to see what printing hub it was printed at and all her books I have say in Orlando, FL. All my other Amazon printed books are printed in Illinois, Connecticut, or Texas. I am not sure if this is why, but it seems to be the case. I hate that I can't color in her books. I guess I can buy the PDF's but I hate to do that and spend more money on the same book. I could take the book apart and copy it, but again I really don't want that either. Too many spare pages to worry about. Let me know how the paper in your book compares to say the standard Amazon paper, or the Coco Wyo books. The paper felt like it would be the same as the Coco Wyo paper, ( I have no problem coloring on the Coco Wyo paper) but it is not the same. And the Coco Wyo books are printed in Connecticut, not Florida. Did you have an issue with your paper (besides the bleed with markers?) Like does it feel really rough, like kids coloring book paper? Just wondering how your books compare, because maybe I will purchase again from Amazon UK OR DE. Thanks for sharing all your spectacular pages! 💖💖
@amberlesilencia3728Ай бұрын
Aww, thank you so much my dear! I also really like the outcome of the Cris Ortega page. I also found the paper a bit different to let's say Coco Wyo paper. First the issue with the bleeding with the Alcohol Markers. Though that also could be, because the linework is so fine. However the overall coloring experience was also a bit different compare to normal. You know, that I really don't mind to color in Amazon books. I usually enjoy it quite a bit. I also enjoyed to work in this book, but still I found, that the pencils didn't go on so smoothly like they do in my Coco Wyo books. I have checked, if it was printed in another location. I am from Germany. So my Amazon books are usually printed in Poland. This one is printed in Germany. So it seems, that I like the Polish paper better. I also prefer to have my colored pages directly in the book. Of course you could decide to get the next book just as pdf and not the physical copy. I think the price of the PDF is not that much more. Next I want to try to color a larger face on that paper and see, how that works. The paper didn't really take layers, so I'm curious if I will have trouble, when the face is bigger. In this picture, there was not a lot of shading needed. On the dress I had already shaded with markers, so I didn't need to shade that much with pencils. Thanks again for always leaving me such stunning comments! They always provide value to me. Have a great day! 🥰💕💜
@nicolemarie011Ай бұрын
@@amberlesilencia3728 Sounds like the paper in your Cris Ortega book is also different to the standard. That is so odd. I wonder why? Ok, well I like the idea you offered to shade a bit with the marker instead, so that way I need to add less pencil layers. You know I color similar to your style with layers and such. So I will try this method and see how it works. I will say the page I tried to color was with a bigger face. I think that may have been part of the issue. I am going to choose something else with a smaller area of skin and face and see how it goes. I will also try to shade a bit with marker to limit the amount of shading with pencil. Gorgeous pages!! I love them all and it's hard to pick a favorite. But, If I had to pick one it would be the swan. Wow, It's amazing. Fantastic Job!!!! ❤❤❤

Aww, thank you so much!! 🥰 I have to say, I'm also very happy with the swan page! Especially, since I was a little bit disappointed with myself with the first Mythographic page, that I had colored, I'm very happy with this result now! Thanks for leaving me some lovely words! 😘💕

Hello Amberle, lovely video, thank you for sharing and for explaining what you were doing at every step. Explanation for these videos is the key, so I thank you for taking it slow and showing your avid followers how to colour in a beautiful face. Love watching all your videos so please do not stop creating and showing your work. Many thanks, kind regards Helen.

Thank you so much Helen. So happy, that you found this video helpful, even though the video quality was by far not the best. Urgs. Hope to figure the lighting out for the next skin video. Best would be daylight. But it is always so dark and gloomy lately. Thanks again and wishing you a beautiful coloring time!

Wonderful. What's your paper print? ❤
@amberlesilencia3728Ай бұрын
The paper I'm using is a printer paper of 160 gram matt paper. The one, that I was using there is no longer produced though. I would guess, that it would compare to a Neenah cardstock.

Thank you for that video. Gorgeous! It helped me figure out a few things. Coloring faces is difficult. You made it look so easy. Keep up the beautiful work.
