Wood gets oiled but they didn't oil those. Oil seeps into the wood on wood lanes so it dries out. Synthetic lanes oil sits on the lane and moves down the lane as balls move it around but oil lasts longer on synthetic before evaporating. Always like wood lanes though.

Hit the pocket a little too sharp. Need to either push out the hook a little bit and make it come in a little softer by taking off some spin, or throw it with less push out towards the dry spot and make a new line. Or, what always helped me, was move over left or right and fix it on the fly
