Is this a trustworthy company considering they didn’t 3rd party test? I hate how chalky normal protein powder is and if this was real I would buy 5 tubs asap that’s how much I hate protein powder

Third party testing helps ensure product quality. Just because a company doesn’t do third party testing doesn’t mean they’re not trustworthy or a bad company, but it doesn’t guarantee it. Sometimes newer companies can’t afford third party testing at first, which may be why they don’t. But it’s ideal if they can. Hope that helps!

Honestly, they need a good slap in the face. The claims they make are insane and unbacked. They used to be a Canadian run company, but Health Canada wouldn't allow the claims that they make, so they moved ops to the US. I used to fall for the aesthetic marketing...now I cringe at any ad that I see.

Hi! 😊 it doesn’t matter! Protein powders don’t automatically lead to weight loss. But they can be helpful in recovery and muscle building after a workout. Also, getting enough protein can help you feel fuller, so reducing overall calorie intake. So, both give plenty of protein to help with that. 😊 Technically, the sport one is slightly lower in calories but the calorie difference isn’t huge enough that it would make that big of a difference overall.

Ok. Tell us what does work for hair growth? Please 😊
@tasteofnutrition
@tasteofnutrition 5 күн бұрын
It honestly depends on the cause of the hair loss/lack of hair growth. Sometimes it’s completely unrelated to nutrition, so a supplement won’t work. If it is nutrition-related, then usually the main things to focus on would be getting enough protein, calories (you’d be surprised how many people actually have hair loss from under nourishing), and iron. Also, making sure you’re eating plenty of vegetables and fruit helps to provide antioxidants which can help as well. Hope that helps a bit 😊

Hi there! I can’t give personal health advice on here. But, any general multivitamin would likely cover your bases. I know you mention you don’t have the best diet but I still have to say overall, it’s still best to focus on a nutrient-dense diet (with focus on protein for skin and hair). And thank you for your kind words. Beyond happy to hear to find these videos helpful 😊

Hmm, I don’t have one specifically that I would widespread say is the best. I actually don’t think most people need a daily multivitamin. The reason I don’t why is because there isn’t much research supporting their usage and if someone is deficient in a nutrient, it’s better to supplement with that individually. But generally if someone does want to have one, I prefer companies that have strong reputations and quality assurance processes, and they don’t go much over 100% the daily value. Centrum is one that I use sometimes (I actually use their prenatal to get a bit more iron), but similar brands are usually fine too. Sorry, I know that’s not the clearest answer, but it’s not so straightforward!

I love how thoroughly you explain things! I decided to start taking electrolyte supplements to help me recover faster from gym sessions that tax my CNS and energy levels. If you could make a video or reply here I am curious to know what brand you recommend best! Also what are your thoughts on a brand like waterboy that advertises 8x electrolytes more, (1,000 mg of sodium) and packed with additional vitamins/mins like l-glutamine, vitamin b etc. it seems like it has much more to offer than other brands for a similar price point. Is that going overboard? Maybe less is more?
@tasteofnutrition
@tasteofnutrition 6 күн бұрын
Thank you! So glad you found it helpful. I don’t have a particular brand that is my absolute favourite, but I do like Liquid IV. I think for most people, 1,000 mg of sodium is a lot and unnecessary. In some cases, it might be helpful for athletes who sweat a lot or other situations with prolonged heat and sweating. In terms of the extra ingredients, I don’t see the need to add them into an electrolyte powder, since they aren’t supposed to just be taken daily anyway. Hope that helps a bit!

There isn’t really a specific dose. Rather, it’s best to make sure you have adequate iron levels (you can get this tested). Ideally, it’s best to get iron through your diet and then only supplement ad needed!

@tasteofnutrition
@tasteofnutrition 15 күн бұрын
It’s hard because everyone has different nutrient needs, so it’s hard to generally recommend a supplement. Personally (not a recommendation just an anecdote), I take a prenatal as it has more iron than a regular multivitamin. But if you’re not deficient in any nutrients, then taking a multivitamin isn’t at all necessary. I think the other thing to consider is the root cause of hair growth issues. It can be diet (not enough calories, iron, protein), lifestyle related (stress, environment, products), or genetics. All to say, it depends (I know that’s not a clear answer but that’s the reality). I hope that helps. But if you have genuine concerns, ask your doctor to test your levels to rule out nutrient deficiency.

Not everyone produces sufficient vitamin D even with sun exposure. This can come down to skin colour, genetics, age, etc. A big factor is also where you live, so the further away from the equator, the less strong the sun rays especially during the winter months.

For the average person, it probably won’t hurt. I don’t think they’re entirely necessary for most people, but the amount in the protein powder most likely is fine. Just keep an eye on how you feel after taking it!

I am a registered dietitian with a Master of Science, which takes over 6 years of university education, clinical training, and research to achieve. I also have my personal training certification, plus being an athlete my entire life. But, if you would like a reference, here are a few: International Society of Sports Nutrition Policy Statement: pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC5477153/ If muscle gain isn’t a goal and just preventing muscle loss, you could go slightly lower in protein, with a range of about 1.2-1.4g/kg/d, but arguably higher protein is still likely better (here’s a reference if you want it: pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC10552824/) Other references related to muscle hypertrophy and protein: pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC8978023/ (This one also discusses how protein needs during with loss may vary depending on athletic training as well) pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC5852756/ There’s robust research on the need for protein to preserve and build muscle mass in general. When there is a calorie deficit present (like in people losing weight), protein needs may be even higher to prevent muscle loss. Anyway, I hope this helps reassure you.

@@tasteofnutrition Thanks for the response. I stipulate that you are educated in the field of nutrition and I am interested in what you have to say. . My interest is that you called out 1.4 to 2.2 g/kg while the typical recommendations are 0.8 to 1.6 gm/kg. I did a quick search in the papers you linked to and did not see your recommendation called out, I'll do a more detailed search after I get off work. 🙂 What is your basis for the higher protein intake? I guess my initial comment sounded a bit curt, I am not intending to be rude. I am just interest in the difference between your recommendation and the typical definition.
@tasteofnutrition
@tasteofnutrition 25 күн бұрын
Not a problem at all! The typical recommendation for protein is to meet bare minimum requirements for basic health and function (I.e., the 0.8 g/kg/d standard recommendation). In the papers I mention, it discussed various aspects to muscle building and therefore gives ranges, because it’s dependent on an individuals needs and situation. For example, in the first reference I give, it clearly stated that “higher protein intakes (2.3-3.1 g/kg/d) may be needed to maximize retention of lean body mass in resistance-trained subjects during hypocaloric periods” mean in that a high protein intake during a calorie deficit is ideal for preserving it. Granted, this is in athletes, so the range is higher than what would be necessary for the average person. Also in the second statement it says “An overall daily protein intake in the range of 1.4-2.0 g/kg/d is sufficient for most exercising individuals, a value that falls in line with the Acceptable Macronutrient Distribution Range” When someone is in a calorie deficit, fat mass isn’t the only thing that is lost. What many studies have found is that when you pair strength training and a higher protein diet, this reduces muscle loss during a calorie deficit as much as possible. In some individuals, it can even promote muscle growth. The issue with general recommendations like the standard 0.8 g/k/d is that it doesn’t consider situations outside of just “meeting your general needs”. But for sure, if someone is not concerned about muscle building or is in a calorie deficit, the lower end is fine, just not ideal. Hope that helps!
