The only problem i have is the ribbon shifter thing is kinda stuck, like not fully on one side it's maybe 3/4 to the end and then it gets stuck

I heard the funny little rollers on the top left are for the date! If you write a lot of letters or such that need to be dated (like one might do in an office) it's handy to have it visible right there. Just gotta remember to set it every morning, but it makes a nice routine I think! 😉

You’re right, I just found that out about six months ago from German website.

I have had a 187 for 50 years. It is a great machine. I could use some more bobbins and I never had any success in finding them. Do you know of someone or somewhere I could obtain some?
@MillyToast Жыл бұрын
I've got one of these. I don't know what year yet as I haven't found the serial number. I bought it in the 1970s.

Back in the day people would use carbon paper to make multiple copies of something they were typing.
@TheFullmetalj2 жыл бұрын
I know, I took a typing course in 1984, we use carbon papers along with regular papers.

BOBBIN Tire is not period correct! just sayin
@karenjohnson32292 жыл бұрын
Mine doesn't have a tire on it. I just assumed you hooked the belt up to the bobbin winder. So yes a manual or where to get one would be excellent.
You can get satin lace and ink it with stamp ink or India ink and spool it. Better than having to look behind those veils to see what you've typed. I too have a trusty Underwood for typing poems. All the best.

I am collaborating with another amateur historian on a book about Vandeventer Place that will have detailed information about all 50 homes, including architects, years of existence, prominent owners, residents, etc. We're a year or two away from publication. So much research and work to do on this fascinating piece of St. Louis history!

I was so happy to find your channel. I just purchased an 187 Adler and would so appreciate if you could make a video about threading it correctly and any other information you have about setting the tension. If that isn't a possibility can you direct me to where I could learn this much needed information. Thank You.
