User experience : 1. I bought the Junior after comparing to standard and custom shop Gibson counterpart. Way better than standard in both playability and sound. Not better than the CS in sounds (the CS sounded warmer, not muddier, and no way to reach that sound rolling down treble on sb55..). But 4 grands for a single trick pony was not OK for me. 2) bought sb 59v black varnish after comparing among several of them AND after comparing with two Heritage 150 artisan aged. I picked the one I liked more among the Eastman BUT all sounded And felt really different (handmade!).... But again, one of the heritage was simply divine in sound (clear like the Eastman, but more vintagy and dynamic sound).. BUT, again, 3.8 K vs 2.3 K. And heritage weighted more than 4 kg where Eastman was 3.5!! And the frets of heritage was very thin and uncomfortable. So, if I could afford, in terms of sound : Eastman could not be my choice.

Thanks for side by side comparison for the tones which are supposed to be the same. It seems existence of the body pickup makes the sound of an American one fuller and to my ears better, Player is bit thinner. Just wondering if adding touch of reverb would fix it? Also not sure if that difference is what I want to pay more for, especially that I prefer the replaceable battery in a Player... ofc American can be modded to add replaceable battery too, but that's extra cost, time and effort.

Strat's neck, 2 and 4 positions vs the Tele's bridge and middle. That's the choice.

Right now, my Tele's being used far more than my Strat. Both are great guitars.

I don't know if it sounded better in the room, but over you tube it comes out as sounding tinny. I'm sure that Roger Mayers fuzzes sound way better than this demo suggests (otherwise be wouldn't have stayed in business for the past 50 years).

Love both - Tele has a special place for what it is and what it can do, but to the Strats benefit it is more modular and is more comfortable with its comfort carves. They both also have very distinctive and unique characteristics.

Everyone buys warm 60s output pickups for SRV tones but it’s the mid 50s brighter quackier pickups exactly like these that really get you there.

Same price as Gibson, and no future value assured, not worth it,. i'll go with Heritage , more expensive but reliable and great future value guitars.

IMO the Telecaster is more versatile, if you cant decide, get a Nashville style in order to get the Strat sound as well as the Tele Twang! I have both models but gravitate to my Telecasters more often than not.

All the other pickups and positions are discussable but the bridge Pickup on a tele is the best single coil bridge pickup ... no doubt

Face it. Nothing less than a grand sounds really good. Just ok. Of course, I’m a lefty. I began suspecting MANY years ago, that we get inferior products. I’ve owned over a hundred guitars since 1968. I currently own 35. They are the good ones I lucked up on. (Remember, leftys can’t try before they buy).
