My family owned a few of these in the 60’s. I’ve always loved these Lincoln’s. Buuuuuuttttt, I was never a fan of the later editions, especially that awful green.

To be fair it’s not as if I know for a fact that the odometer has rolled, but statistics and experience say it’s worth skepticism. So before any buyer could be justified in paying the premium for the sellers claim for the supposed low mileage, there would be some evidence needed. Generally in these situations that evidence doesn’t actually exist, and the seller is just seeing what it’s in their interest to believe.

What you said about the seats is so true though whatever cloth ford was making bench seats from back then was stupid durable. My 86 f150 has 125k miles and it’s lived outside most its life, original seats are completely sun bleached from red to greenish white somehow. But not a tear or pull in the cloth ANYWHERE. Only signs of wear are a few cig burns, cuz hey, it was the 80s. Otherwise they’re perfect.

I had a 1989 Legend my parents gave to me in 1998 when I was on active duty in the Army at Ft Lewis, WA and drove it until 2001. They bought it brand new and that car was incredible. Any mid 90s Legend if well maintained is worth $13k

It’s a real thing, people have gotten the idea recently that the 2 door GMT 400 Tahoes are a future collector. This one is a pretty transparent money making attempt; he overshot on price and the car itself is a bit of a polished turd

Sure looks like it was bought at auction wrecked and put back together as cheap and half ass as possible and somehow it just escaped having a branded title. Esp the front end looks like there's some funky stuff going on - bumper doesn't look straight etc. There's probably some zip-ties and drywall screws in there.

My parents had a '69 Continental. I learned to drive in that car. Ours ran fine on regular leaded gas. 10.25:1 compression. I could see someone swapping in later model heads for the hardened valve seats, but not for compression. Not when adjusting the advance curve could compensate for a couple octane points. I wouldn't trust that rebuild! Especially since the best thing about the '69 is the power of the high-compression motor. OTOH, '69 is the first year of the 385, and last of the suicide doors. IMO it's the most beautiful of the Camelot-era Lincolns. I'd be interested in buying one.

Cyl 8 is wet because the pcvs had a recall rerouting the line from that 4 inch one to a long one all the way to the tree on the intake manifold. The short line causes cyl 8 to eat oil by the quart. It will kill the engine, this was rectified in later 302 trucks after the recall. The fix is really easy though. Also the cruise control module can burn down the early obs that have it. Definitely another recall fix obs owners should know to check on if they get an automatic. But that pcv fix is super important.
@craigslistgold

Thanks. I'm going to look into that. I'm going to go through the intake of this truck sometime in the next few months, I already have all the sensors and gaskets etc.

I feel like part of this is rental car treatment, and also the spec. I’m not an American car fanatic but I had a S197 Mustang GT, admittedly pretty low miles around 50k, but it felt really solid, interior quality was good in some places, not so good in others but it was a nice car. Comfortable ride, not the best handler but no slouch either, and a lot of chassis feel. I wonder if your experience would be the same in a manual ecoboost coupe, one that has been decently cared for.
@craigslistgold
@craigslistgold Ай бұрын
So I've driven a bunch of these, as well as the pre-2015 model, and in this particular case while the ecoboost/automatic combo is very uninspiring, the part of this car that was most problematic for me was the chassis flex from it being a convertible.
