XXXcellent! Do you have any video from Amadeus, 1980, with Tim Curry and Ian McKellen? I know it was pro shot and the TOFT library in NyC…

I don't believe I do, but now that I'm aware of it I'll keep a look out for it!

I believe it was Ed Sullivan but I'm not 100% sure of that.

What a wonderful treat to see/hear these marvelous performances again. I spent many wonderful summer evenings at the Delacorte Theater and wouldn't trade those nights for anything. I also attended many performances when Pirates was performed in the theater, which were terrific - but the original will always be my favorite. Thanks so much for sharing.

So happy you enjoyed it. I especially love seeing Patricia Routledge doing what she did so well!

I love the subtle differences between this choreo and the revival; such an iconic dance
@BroadwayBarflyShowClips3 күн бұрын
I'm not sure there are any differences in the choreography, only the execution. Ann Reinking is on record as having gotten permission from Gwen Verdon to use it in the revival saying she couldn't imaging having it be any better.

Of course we have Ed Sullivan for this clip. It amazes me that Julie recreated so many of her musical comedy songs for her own variety show, or in concerts, or in specials but never sang any from this musical. As far as I can find, she sang Camelot of course but never sang Lusty Month of May, or I Loved You Once in Silence, or Before I Gaze at You Again from that musical in any venue. I don't know why.

Good point. I never thought of that before but suspect you're right. I saw her big concert tour sometime in the mid 80s and a Lerner and Lowe medley was one of the highlights but I couldn't tell you any more what songs were included.
