I just heard of temu recently… Honestly, I stayed away cuz I figured it was too good to be true prices. Figured the stuff wouldn’t work as advertised and such.. Because of that, I’ve never used it so knowing this before I start, I won’t ever use it. However, the mindset you mentioned, that “drop in the bucket won’t matter,” mindset, I think resonates for you cuz you’ve already been on Temu if that makes sense. But yeah, I’m thinking hard about this now.. Because, woohoo I’m morally right for not using Temu… But looking at my gym outfit on the floor right now, I wore Nike socks, shorts and shirt. And I’d bet 80% of my clothes say “made in” a country known to have sweat shops. How much work would take for me to no longer contribute to that? And if I do it, does it make a change? If millions do it with me, yes! Will millions do it with me?…

Wonder if I can convince my mom to stop buying from Temu. I never have, and I'm kinda glad for that after learning this.

I discovered you because next to no one was reacting to A Slap On Titan. A Criminaly underrated parody. This vid has just over 3,000 views & that still is alot of people. I wish most would understand the fact that, in my state & I'm sure a few others have ONLY (hang on to that word) ONLY over 5 million people. So when I hear some channel has 1.×× or 2.×× million views I always think, "that doesn't even make up my own states population." I don't mean this in a bad way at all either. It's still alot of people. It's just that there's so much overestimation as well as underestimation when it comes to stuff like this. If I had a channel who only just had 100 subs. Man, I'd feel like I just provided entertainment for a whole neighborhood. That's amazing. Even for just that little bit. Worth it. Keep up the good work spazzez.

I bought a couple shirts from Temu and found out a lot the bad things you just talked about a bit later on. Honestly, I don't mind spending a couple extra dollars if it means avoiding them. That being said, I do understand the whole "It's gonna happen, anyway" view. I'm that way with a lot of things, myself.

As a black jew there's nothing that annoys me more than people complaining about "institutional oppression from slavery" while wearing Temu clothes, tech made from labour mines, or eating food with both our countries treatment of foreign workers. This is flat out modern slavery. I try not to buy from these sorts of sites but it's up to the government, not consumers, to regulate companies so big, immoral, and anti-competitive. I don't blame people for picking the cheaper option, but it's strictly because slavery is economically efficient.

if everyone did stop buying from them & deleted the app, you know they would start looking for a new way to hide it & a different name we would need to Learn about before we would know. So I don't think it helps to avoid them even if in many cases I will avoid them.
@NateTmi4 сағат бұрын
I would not install an app like this mainly because I would not think the product will get to me & be in working order. When it is too cheep I question if it is delivered with care... yet even with out the app I have seen an ad that took me to a product & in that case I would not think to look them up & if it was something I had never seen to know the cost of it to compare, why would I take the time to look the cost. knowing I may avoid them but will I remember this the next time an ad plays for something I need & it happens to lead there?
@NateTmi4 сағат бұрын
To me it is not a question of if an app is safe, but more, what is on my phone that I care if people see.
@NateTmi4 сағат бұрын
I don't like sites like that because too often I don't get the product & I would rather get what I order then credit or needing to report it... most sites that have such cheep stuff will cut corners & u may not get your item or it will be some crap that breaks on it's way to you. Yet it they did ship the product & not break it, I would never think of how the product was made, but when it is that cheep I question if it will get to me & if it will really be what I think I ordered. it is not slave talk that would stop me.

I've heard of Temu. I've never bought from them. I've always assumed that they would have the lowest quality garbage for those prices. Didn't put much more thinking into it. I don' think I'll start buying from them now. I'll stick with Ebay for most of my online shopping.

Fire video Curtis. 1. I think it’s terrible but at the same time literally everything we own can be traced to something bad. From clothes in sweatshops to metal mines in Africa to make our phones. So I just reluctantly accept. Hope for better. 2. Apps. Can know what they want about me. They wanna know what I watch on x videos that’s their trauma 😂

I bought there once to kinda just test them. A shirt and a ridge-wallet knock-off for like €7 total. Both arrived a couple of weeks later, and to be honest, both were fine. And yet, I have not ordered from them once again. I just don't like the whole concept, app, background, shipping, and basically everything of Temu. But I cannot really judge other consumers who "can not afford Amazon" or "don't care about the problems", because well, if I lost my job or something I would order there too, lol.
@jasonbruno17797 сағат бұрын
One of my reasons for not purchasing from temu is they comb through Etsy and possibly other platforms and find best selling designs and artwork that artist create, steal them and post them for sale on temu, then they hit the artist they stole from with a copyright infringement and in some cases getting the artists shop shut down, and some of these Etsy artists make a living on that platform

Never used Temu, actively avoiding the use of online giants like Amazon, Temu, shein etc. More of a fan of supporting the local stores even if more expensive, not because I feel morally superior or whatever, just that I enjoy the more personal experience of shopping and feel more comfortable than how addictive online shopping can be :P
@Shenmoki7 сағат бұрын
I've bought from Temu before (about a year ago before things about them were confirmed) and it's a bummer how insanely smooth the experience was. Just like Amazon shopping wise except cheaper and i had to wait longer for shipping (which in most circumstances is fine). It makes it damn tempting, especially clothing wise. Which unfortunately as we know is where most potential slave labor lies.
@Eric-t6s9s8 сағат бұрын
I don't buy anything other than the basics locally. Never bought anything on Temu or Amazon or anywhere. I am a minimalistic anti-hoarder. I got a smartphone for 40 bucks because it does the same stuff that the more expensive ones do and they are probably all made in the same sweatshop. I don't care about logos or brands. Two t-shirts can be the same, made in the same place, one goes to a store for 5 bucks and the other one goes to a brand name store or whatever for 25 bucks. You can buy a car for 20k or one for a million. At the end of the day they get you from point a to point b. There is no difference unless you care about logos or brands or if you care what others think. It is surprisingly easy and cheap to live. But idiots fall to advertising and the media and news and what they hear and see. So many fake KZbin videos I could use as an example.

This is right up my alley, actually. I reviewed some of their stuff on my channel. Depends what you buy some stuff is actually decent. But of course you gotta know what to buy. Knives,solar panels,camping gear, some clothes. The spying aspect is this computers went online in the 90s. Everything we own now takes your information and watches you no avoiding it with the internet. The whole slave labor thing is everywhere. Do I feel bad of course! But what I buy that was made cheap is an item. That item i would buy from pretty much anywhere and its probably gonna be made by a sweatshop.The slave labor is the companies fault not the consumer. I am gonna keep buying what I need if I can get it for a deal. So I can get by a little easier.

The state of KZbin now is definitely a different beast than it was 10 years ago, seems like it was a lot easier to gain traction or to build a community of people that enjoyed your style of content. Nowadays it's a crap shoot. As you said if you even veer off the path slightly you get bonked for it. It's unfortunate because I've come across a few channels with a lot of potential, some even get decently lucky with a few videos and soar past the minimum monetization requirements right out of the gate. But then one small misstep and their channel loses most of their impressions and due to a lack of motivation the channels end up dying and become abandoned. For me personally I hopped on due to your Naruto reactions (absolutely loved those videos) and would just catch any other videos that caught my eye. But I hadn't clicked on a video of yours on my home feed for a while so YT completely stopped recommending your videos to me. Funnily enough this has been the first one I've seen since then, haha. I've been on a true crime kick while at work so maybe the title tickled the algorithm just right and it sneezed it over towards my general direction. Have always enjoyed your videos Curtis and I thank you for all the hard work and countless hours of entertainment you've put into this channel. Hopefully you can catch a second wind and sail out into the sea of success again. But as long as you still enjoy making content for those that do watch, I genuinely think that's all that matters at the end of the day.
