Hi, I would like to ask you because I can't see exactly how the side awning is mounted to the side of the roof? Are the adapters drilled through the side of the roof? Do you have any photos of the installation?
@jidrobbins
@jidrobbins Ай бұрын
They are mounted to the side of the top shell, below the where the vinyl soft side is mounted, so if there were any leaks where it's mounted it would not leak inside the camper - if that makes sense. I have a couple of pictures, but can't attach them here.

You gave me some good ideas to try next season! I like how you used the Weber char baskets, how you set the kettle lid with the vent forward and especially how you had the grate set up to easily take more wood! I recommend that you try Crown perforated pizza pans, I find they take away the stress of transferring the pizza! Klaus

I don't understand why truck campers are still so outdated. NuCamp is one of the only mainstream truck camper manufacturers that is building modern looking and well equipped campers, with lithium batteries, Truma heating systems, etc. These things are too expensive to be so far behind in aesthetics and technology.
@JohnWeik
@JohnWeik Жыл бұрын
Lithium batteries are not all they're cracked up to be and can actually have issues and even catch on fire and don't work as well in the cold. Said you had some issues but overall I find these campers seem to have the least reported complaints compared to most! Just saying.
@dlg5485
@dlg5485 Жыл бұрын
@@JohnWeik The only issue with litium batteries is that they need to be kept within certain temperature parameters when in operation, and that's not a big deal. Otherwise, they are FAR superior to lead acid/AGM batteries in every single way. They last longer, allow deeper discharge, provide higher power density, and on and on. It's no comparison!

I use the Jumbo Joe all the time for pizza when camping, and have had no issues. The KettlePizza kit is designed to work with the 18" and 22" grills. I would recommend getting the hinged grate (or modifying your regular grate to make it easier to add wood). Watch my other Kettle Pizza video to see what I mean: kzbin.info/www/bejne/rKm4Y5eeh8Sia9E

I built one to. CHEAP AND VERY EASY, I wasn't going to spend lot of time and money for a dam pizza oven. So i made one. That would work out my Weber Grill. All i do is place a pizza stone in or out of it. EASY! Got a piece 18"x18'' porcelain floor tile, and cut to round to fit inside the weber, then made 3 ~ 1 1/12" holes across the side, for heat to come up. i just turn the grate over where it fits flat. Lay the tile on the grate. That it ~ Told ya it was cheap and EASY ~ Not just 12", 14" 16" pizza! but i can make 18'' pizzas YUM> It only took about 30 min the make the pizza stone ~ course i all ready had tile cutting table, bits and things Plus that all a pizza stone is? a porcelain tile that is cut round >>> THAT YOUR PAYING OVER 45 bucks for. THAT CRAZY
@richardwelch9796
@richardwelch9796 2 жыл бұрын
do you ever rotate the stone at the beginning to get it evenly heated? I ask because you talk about the back being hotter than the front.
@jidrobbins
@jidrobbins 2 жыл бұрын
I don’t, but I do rotate the pizzas as they cook. It’s always going to be much hotter in the back by the fire, so I’m not sure if rotating the stone would really make much of a difference once the grill and stone get to temperature.
@WhiteWizard44
@WhiteWizard44 2 жыл бұрын
Hey Jason, when your cooking grate is flipped over the center spine is standing proud of the horizontal grates. Do you have any problem with the stone rocking back and forth or listing slightly to one side as a result? I will be using your exact arrangement but have ordered an upgraded pizza steel so it won't crack or break but could wobble.
@jidrobbins
@jidrobbins 2 жыл бұрын
I use a thick pizza stone, so any rocking is minimal because of it's weight. I'm not sure what a pizza steel will do, but maybe you put something on either side of the spine to balance it out? Something as simple as some rolled up aluminum foil on either side could help. Another option is to buy a cheap non-hinged grate and cut a few sections off the rear so it is open to the fire area. I did that on my Jumbo Joe and it worked well.

I can't really tell you much about the A/C, I'm in Western NY and have only turned it on once. It's not a big space, so I would imagine it will cool the camper just fine. You will need a generator or 110v power hook-up to use it. There is a Northstar Facebook group, and I'm sure someone can give you the info you're looking for: facebook.com/groups/262493560390

Good luck with that. I bought a brand new 2014 Northstar Arrow-U in 2014 from Truck Camper Warehouse in Chichester, NH. The camper was a p.o.s., as are all Northstars. The dealer as well as the manufacturer were not helpful at all once my check/loan cleared. Check your fuse/circuit panel to be sure everything is correct (orientation and location of breakers), careful on your entry handle that it doesn't rip out of the wall, the Laguna table will pull away from its mount, the cable coaxial should be checked, where the electric jacks mount are weak points, the support legs of the awning have a plastic cam lock and are brittle. Sorry to burst your bubble. Good luck. You seem as happy and excited as I was. I sold it back to T.C.W. for a huge financial loss in 2017. Paid $31,000 in 2014, the guy only gave me $10,000 in 2017. He still has it for sale three years later in Chichester, NH for $26,500 (as of 4/2020)
