Christmas now in the 2020s starts on the 100 days until Christmas mark which is on September 16th. I was in Sainsbury's on Monday 16th September 2024, and I remember seeing the Christmas section being installed, with Christmas wrapping paper, cards, biscuits, chocolates etc all up on the shelves. So in fact Christmas lasts 100 days of preparation and barely 2 days of celebration, as most shops want you to forget about Christmas by December 27th.

The laugh from the audience at 0:33 when Dave asks how they are feeling after Christmas, as the audience and Dave know this Boxing night special wasn't live, and was filmed in November 1994, so a little in-joke for Dave and the audience that night.

I remember the clock joke, caused controversy because he said the f word. It was still quite strict then, even 1990. Fantastic.

Why is Dave so angry in this episode?

Love the man. Grew up in Norway during the 1970-80' s and back then Norwegian television sent a lot of UK productions (still do.) Mr Allen became a favourite and so many comedians have been inspired by him, Norwegians and British. So many I like today, Tiernan, Dara, etc and see the line from Dave and to present comedians.

So Dave, you walk into a Post Office, there are 4 queues with an equal amount of clerks behind the desks. You want quick service but it's hard. I'll turn your jokes around and ask you what you would do. If you do what you say you do in other circumstances I will start by saying what you said 'Don't you hate being behind Dave Allen in a queue'. BUT you are the best.
