As a tourist, it might be wonderful but when you live there, it's hell. The government tries to completely squeeze you our financially and they are damn good at it. You don't see it as a tourist, but we have a very large amount of people who live below the poverty line and are working full time. Just handig almost all their cash over to the government who on their turn hands the cash over to their friends at big business to enrich themselves.

Whilst I don't think it is that dramatic and some of it is just the consequence of capitalism and moder information society, I do agree that it went too far in the last 20 years or so. Even the president of the central bank has been urging for higher wages for best part of a decade now. And he is supposed to be politically neutral.

The tradigional manufacture of the tiles is an incredible process.. There is a video on KZbin titled" Building the Moroccan Court" It is a wonderful documentary about Moroccan craftsmen invited to build the Moorish section in The Metropolitan Museum. It is only 20 minutes that opened my eyes to the amazing skill involved.

One thing you forgot, is that the cauliflower, pretty much as any fresh vegetable and fruits, need to bagged in a plastic or paperbag, next to where you find them. Than you need to put them on a scale tat prints the price tag. This is so it can be scanned, when you pay. The white venco licorice you put in, we call chalk (krijt), as it reminds people of the old school black boards. :D

That 'giant dish' is called: Monument Lage land (low country). This suburb is called 'het lage land'. This was actually the lowest part in the Netherlands -6.67m under sea level until 1995. At that time the gvmt did new measurements and the new lowest point (-6,76m) was a few km to the east at the Zuidplaspolder in Nieuwerkerk aan de IJssel.
