Awful lot of me me me, my my my, and mine mine mine in this video. As a Benedictine, we come to realize we own NOTHING in this world.

I am an Oblate at St. Michael’s Abbey, Mount Angel, Oregon. I am an artist, a writer and a volunteer pastoral assistant at my church; St. Mary’s in Eugene. I converted in my mid-forties and became an Oblate several years later. The Rule of St. Benedict has always been a great blessing to me. The deeper l get into it, the more l am able to grow. God bless you all.

Thanks for sharing your story, Daniel. It is a blessing to know how St. Benedict and his Rule are shaping the lives of others, both within and beyond Benedictine monastic communities. Blessings to you!

Good morning! Vision Vocation has a great directory of different religious communities: www.vocationnetwork.org/en/directory/community_search. You can search there to find monasteries close by - there are probably more than you think! Blessings to you in your journey to become an oblate. Oblates are such an important part of each community.

HIV continues to be a major global public health issue, having claimed almost 33 million lives so far. However, with increasing access to effective HIV prevention, diagnosis, treatment and care, including for opportunistic infections, HIV infection has become a manageable chronic health condition, enabling people living with HIV to lead long and healthy lives. There were an estimated 38.0 million people living with HIV at the end of 2019. As a result of concerted international efforts to respond to HIV, coverage of services has been steadily increasing. In 2019, 68% of adults and 53% of children living with HIV globally were receiving lifelong antiretroviral therapy (ART). A great majority (85%) of pregnant and breastfeeding women living with HIV also received ART, which not only protects their health, but also ensures prevention of HIV transmission to their newborns. Sisters, would you be able to make a video of one of the offices of the day, possibly with being able to see the accompanying pages in the books? It doesn't have to be any special day or office, but just an example so that people can see the office book with notation and hear how the psalms are chanted? Thank you! <3 - Jenny DeVivo, OblSB
@sbmdevcomm4 жыл бұрын
Hi Jenny! Right now, filming our prayers would be a little complex because we have had to adjust how we do them due to COVID-19. However, we will be filming and posting four different prayer services titled "Prayer in Troubled Times" which you can learn more about on our website: sbm.osb.org/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/Autumn-Offerings-Website.pdf. These aren't like our normal Liturgy of the Hours, but they will incorporate different elements of prayer. We will think about doing this in the future, but cannot promise anything right now. Blessings!

St. Walburg's brothers St. Willibald & St. Winnibald were also both Bendictine religious. St. Winnibald was abbot of the joint monastery at Heidenheim, St. Walburga becoming abbess after St. Winnbald's death in 761. St. Walburga died in 779 her relics translated to Eichstatt where her brother's (St. Winnibald) relics had been translated in 776. St. Willibald was monk, pilgrim and later Bishop (742) of Eichstatt. He died in 786/7. The life of St. Willibald, the Hodoeporicon, was written by a the nun Hugeburc, a living contemporary of the three saints. Such a wonderful, pious family.
