Very good machine for its time, and you could achieve a good upgrade. Surprised at the low spec processor. I have a similar system, but I have a Q9400 with a 3.368 GHz o/c on a Biostar mb that takes ddr3 memory. It has Windows 7, and it is an addictive PC with an HD 7570 graphics card. I have to force myself to turn it off sometimes, reminding me that I need the extra HP of a newer machine. Windows 7 is still a good experience compared to newer versions of Windows imo. Luckily I have a 4th gen PC with a gtx 980 that supports W7, too. Kind of the best of both world for serious work. Thanks for the video.

@@nalinux eh well. Thanks to dust allergies, I pretty much have to clean up any machine I get. A dimension 9500?
@nalinux2 ай бұрын
@@Theutmostgeek Allergies are different then "disgusting" :) The 9500 I have has the same nice white case. No integrated GPU, I don't remember which was inside when I got it. The CPU is a poor Pentium M 3 GHz, and 4 Go ram. Can't be updated to a Core 2. It runs perfectly with XP and 7. And of course Linux. Far Cry 1 with all video options to max in 1600x900 runs at about 95 fps in the demo scene at start up. But remember there`s a GTX 750 Ti inside now ... Heaven run at 14 fps in 1440x900 :) Since there's a IDE connector, it's a perfect "retro" machine. The bios is a pain, since it complain about the drives connected when we connect/disconnect them. I really enjoy this computer. I wonder if Win 10 has drivers ... I will try it. And Win 98 too :)

An e8400 and R7 240 2gb GDDR5 would be a big upgrade. Just make sure you get the GDDR5 version of the R7 240. It's more powerful than a Gt 730, and you can overclock it right in the AMD software.

my honest opinion i wouldn't scrap something like this, especially if it's your first pc. wish i still had mine, it was a late 90's Compaq and first computer i ever used to go on the internet at the time, it accidentally got thrown out in the trash, crazy how time fly's and things change. also these type of systems are a bit rare nowadays even if it had dead hardware in it. if you want to repurpose it (if the hardware is not dead) get a ryzen APU and a micro ATX motherboard, what ever the cheapest that you can afford. but it's your choice what ya do with it.
