As a Quebecer, I am profoundly embarrassed. I was only eight at the time, so I wasn’t aware about how little support he got in my province. My parents, who were journalists, certainly knew about him. I remember how moved they were when he had to stop, and when he passed away.

northern ontario (HWY 69) he was just starting out on his days run, and right away facing a very steep uphill part of highway 69 just outside of the city, at that time terry was still 10 hr 47 min (1,001.2 km) away from thunder bay ontario , where having to stop just outside of thunder bay. that day vividly etched in my memory forever.

Everyone talks about Terry as a boy when in reality he was a man. He was 22. He wasn’t some young kid he was a man on a mission. More of a man then most will ever be.

Wonderful flight, thank you! So how far does it take to achieve rotation speed? Do you use partial flaps, and by converse, landing speeds, etc?

I never saw a Mosquito with a yoke like that. Is that a later model bird or was it modified? I always thought they had that half stick/half yoke type of configuration on the stick. Stive Hinton is a legend in the WWII warbirds community. What a lucky man to have such an incredible job!

Nice that it was flying in Canada. My 102 year old father RAF Fl/Lt Colin Bell DFC flew a Canadian built DH Mosquito Mk25 Bomber similar to this with Packard Merlins. He and his Canadian navigator RCAF Doug Redmond DFC were stationed at RAF Downham Market, Norfolk , England in 1944/5 and flew 50 missions over Nazi Germany, 13 of them over heavily defended Berlin where they were pursued by a radar equipped 4 cannon Me 262 Swallow night fighter. You can see him flying in a San Antonio based Mosquito FB 4 years ago in a Lewis Air Legends You Tube but the Mosquito in this video is the version he flew almost 80 years ago. Prior to that he was a USAAC T6 advanced flying instructor at Napier Field, Dothan AL

I was thinking why wasn't an American to do such a sacrifice and then I realized that that's impossible. Still from the beginning, he should be run over by a car, robbed by someone, killed in a mass shooting or just arrested for an illegal presence on the road.

Terry Fox did ok but he never actually finished the run. Then there was talk he was just doing it for the money so theres that. As a proud Canadian the hero I look to is Justin Trudeau. Justin is a natural leader of men.

I was 8 years old when Terry passed away and deeply disturbed for about a year afterwards. Terry haunts me to this day and I love him. What really gets to me is Terry being in pain each day, yet remaining determined through stretches and stretches of lonely highways, often in unpleasant weather. He is the indomitable spirit personified, a true Canadian icon.

One of my favorite aircraft...I prefer to fly with a yoke than a stick...my favorite configuration, the f-b, uses a stick, unfortunately...I would think there would be better control with the yoke...so my second choice would be photo-recon...pristine cockpit...good video, thanks!

The way he keeps blowing up his pipes like he is about to play them, and then not playing them is very aggravating
@justinnaramor60502 жыл бұрын
Um, did you ever stop to think that maybe he has to occasionally blow air into the bag to keep it full for when he needs to play later? The air won't stay in that bag forever. Some of that air is always going to escape into the pipes... well duh, because the pipes have holes that air can go through! So with that in mind, it's only necessary to occasionally blow more air into the bag to make sure it stays full enough.
