The lake can be cleaned from bottom sediments without completely draining the water. You can make a manual mini dredger from a motor pump for dirty water and a suction nozzle Bagermaster

Back when a guy I knew built a pond at the bottom of the over flow pipe he put in a T and onthe pond side of the T he jammed a gallon glass jar in and taped it up so it wouldnt leak. And when he drained the pong for repairs to the dam he put a 22 up the discharge pipe shot and broke the glass jar,, BINGO no muss no fuss

Thanks, Mark. I am very supportive of having a single citywide trash service to avoid having trash cans out on our neighborhood streets for several days every week. Please strongly consider Active Waste Solutions which has provided very consistent service over the past several years, unlike a few other local trash companies who often miss pickup days.
@nichollepelletier52922 жыл бұрын
Please, please do any company other than active waste. They’re horrendous. They skip trash days multiple times and their customer service people are the rudest I’ve ever dealt with. Great idea to consolidate! Not a great idea to consolidate to a 2.4 out of 5 rated trash company that the majority of people strongly dislike

Mark - Absolutely great job on this video. My only concern is loss of competition. How do we guarantee quality if the hauler has no incentive to keep service excellent?
@markknowles63963 жыл бұрын
That is a great question. IMHO, it starts with the contract. Strict service level requirements, financial penalties for service level misses, an exit option for poor service; measurable and reportable. Must be defined up-front. Then on the execution side, someone has to be manning the ship. Record keeping, reporting, full transparency. I would be against an agreement that is vague and has no teeth. On the Haulers side, if they were to win this contract, they would have to either spend money for new or reallocate assets already in their fleet, in addition to assigning resources, planning new routes, etc. They would have considerable skin-in-the game from day one. So, their motivation to perform is high, IF there is fear of loss. Cancelling the contract is the only real hammer the town can have, so we must make sure we have one. The good news is that we are not blazing a trail here. Many municipalities have gone this route. Some have failed, some succeeded. We can learn from both. Cheers,

Check for more videos on my channel. The rise and barrel had decayed and were no longer holding water. We drained the lake, spent a small fortune to replace the riser and line the barrel. Money well spent. Lake is full now, restocked with fish, and thriving.

Was any consideration given to the fish living in the drained lake?
@markknowles17425 жыл бұрын
Yes. Many were held in a small "pond" created as the water receded. Not all could be and the wildlife in the area (birds, foxes, eagles, buzzards) did their thing. After the dam was repaired, the rains brought back the water, and the lake is a thriving eco-system again.
