You bring up a valid point! 🌌 It's true that human biology is not naturally suited for the harsh conditions of space, especially interstellar travel. Long-term exposure to radiation, muscle and bone loss in microgravity, and the psychological challenges of isolation make it a tough challenge. However, advancements in technology-like artificial gravity or radiation shielding-could help make long journeys more feasible. we wouldnt actually need faster than light travel to reach other stars, but it would help to reduce the travel times. also, nuclear fusion engines cannot go faster than light, as they are acceleration based propulsion methods, not spacetime warping methods
@D3-DiscoverDeepDreams
@D3-DiscoverDeepDreams 4 күн бұрын
You're absolutely right! 👍 Faster-than-light (FTL) travel isn’t strictly necessary to reach other stars, but it would certainly help make those journeys a lot more manageable! With current propulsion methods like nuclear fusion engines, we’d still be able to travel across interstellar distances, but the journey would take decades or even centuries depending on the speed. 🛸 As you mentioned, nuclear fusion engines are based on acceleration, so they can’t break the light-speed barrier. The idea of spacetime warping-like in wormholes or Alcubierre drives-is still in the realm of theoretical physics and would need to bend space itself to get around the light-speed limit. It’s definitely an exciting concept, but we’ve got a long way to go before it’s possible. Thanks for the thoughtful insight! 🌌✨ And hey, we’ll keep exploring all the possibilities of interstellar travel together, so make sure to subscribe for more space discussions! 🚀

Lol, ok, now that's not precise. Newton did not "discover" gravity. I'm not sure that's a good script. Ok, Pluto's case and the redefining of planets made people reconsider the term planet. But why was Neptune in particular reconsidered? They reconsidered every planet or was there something about Neptune?
@D3-DiscoverDeepDreams
@D3-DiscoverDeepDreams 7 күн бұрын
Thanks for your great question! You're absolutely right to ask for clarification. The major debate about Neptune's status as a planet didn’t occur in the same way that Pluto’s was questioned. Neptune’s position as a planet has remained secure throughout this whole process. There was never any serious push to declassify Neptune or remove it from the list of planets. What happened in 2006 was that the International Astronomical Union (IAU) introduced a new definition of what qualifies as a "planet," which led to Pluto’s reclassification as a dwarf planet. Pluto didn’t meet one of the key criteria, which is that a planet must have cleared its orbit of other debris. This reclassification of Pluto sparked broader discussions about the definition of a planet. However, Neptune was never at risk of losing its planetary status. It clearly meets all three criteria in the new definition: It orbits the Sun. It’s large enough for its gravity to shape it into a round form. It has cleared its orbit of other debris. So, while the Pluto debate led to questions about how we define a planet, Neptune’s status was never seriously reconsidered. The focus was mostly on Pluto and whether smaller objects like Pluto or Eris should be considered planets or classified as "dwarf planets." Thanks again for the awesome question - it really helps dive deeper into this fascinating topic!
