Sam C. I've always assumed it's because it's about a specific relationship that ended badly &/or the person who it's about knows it's about them. Gavin's spoken before about that happening so it makes him not like performing the song so that could be the reason. Or he could feel like the "window" for the song has passed- which he's also spoken about. The song, much like the man himself is a bit of an enigma 😉
