I watched that show in reruns in the early 70s. Now it’s 2024 and still watching it just about every day.

Apparently a lot of you never saw the issue of Hustler magazine that featured a photo from an 8mm porn loop, I believe it was, of someone who LOOKED EXACTLY LIKE Chuck Connors getting all Brokeback with an anonymous skinnyboy. It's probably best if this isn't researched.

Played on the Celtics in the eastern division, then he went to Hollywood. So, he went from being the worst shot in the east, to being the best shot in the west.

To be fair...he "dominated" the NBA to the tune of 4.6 and 3.0 points per game his two years. Not disparaging his basketball talents, for to make the NBA is exceptional. But the description offered here is inaccurate.

What kind of basketball backboard did he shatter ? Glass?
@tomlord4469
@tomlord4469 6 ай бұрын
Yes is was glass. The rim was not installed correctly. He was not dunking, I believe it was illegal at the time . Anyhow when he shot at the rim the glass shattered. True , look it up. He also played basketball for the Rochester Royals, who today are the Sac. Kings. The great Otto graham of the Cleveland Browns was on his B-ball team . They won a championship in the NBL in 1946.

He was a failure of a professional athlete in a time when athletes couldn’t hold a candle to today’s talent. He was an excellent actor, though. I loved him in Roots.
@MultiEviscerator

Failure? How many professional teams in different sports have you played for. Also that rubbish about how "todays talent is so much better" is for people who have no clue. Rick Barry puts that to rest at 6:50 in this video kzbin.info/www/bejne/sGLWZItqqK6Vd7c

@@MultiEviscerator Today’s talent is better for the reasons Barry mentions. Perhaps if Connors were in his prime today with all the advantages today’s players have he would be better than he was but I still think he wouldn’t have had any chance of making the NBA.

Today's slackers and no -D-ballers have advantages only because of advanced nutrition, medical science , training techniques, better equipment, more rest, performance drugs,less demanding rules etc. If they were growing up in the 1940s, they'd be at the same point as the players of that era. Likewise, if the early players time traveled to grow up in the 2000s they'd be at that level. The one measurement that is constant over all eras is heart -- meaning drive, sacrifice, willingness to take a beating, Contemporary players lose every time on that score. I f today's players were transported back to grow up in the 50s, 60s their heart quotient would go way up. And the great players of the early era, if raised in the 2000s, would lose a lot of their heart quotient.

I grew up watching Hoppy and learned a lot that from his character that helped me develop my own core values. The Hoppy character was greatly admired and his relationship with people was something to emulate. His advice to kids after a show was sincere. He was talking to us in simple plain language. He gave us kids the time of day. Much appreciated!
