I just got a CT as my first bait caster and love it, haven’t had any serious birdsnests and have the brakes down and am casting bombs!

I have the 7ft 4 piece model and its been great on trout, i just leave it in the truck full-time 6lb line and usually a 2 to 4 lb leader.....i prefer longer rods for casting and lure control with brush choke alpine lakes here in British Columbia , the 6lb mainline has actually been necessary as some places i frequent have fish over 5 lbs and lots of snags

@ 2:30 you rigged your line wrong. Your line goes underneath that metal rod. It should be straight from the spool to the level wind hole. Not going underneath that metal rod.

I made that mistake when I got this exact reel. It's my first baitcaster so I have an excuse. this guy has a KZbin channel about fishing, no excuse.

The 7ft Dam shadow telescopic rod is outstanding ,strong light and tiny transport length,I only fish with telescopic rods which includes fly too,and the Dam is the best i could find anywhere and reasonably price.

Bruh it's not set to 0 tension, the feature is called zero "adjuster" tension, it's tuned in factory to perform out of the box without having to mess with the tension. A reel set to 0 tension would mean the tension knob is backed all the way off.

Daiwa states that this is considered zero tension as the tension knob is backed out all the way until there is no pressure on the spool shaft. There is actually a micro left and right movement for how Daiwa set up their spools.

depends what you wanna do. the 100 is going to be better if you wanna throw heavier lures. the 80 is a smaller and lighter spool for a tad bit lighter lures.

Great explanation for beginners Jimbo!! Daiwa does a great job of setting up their reels, they’re great quality and you made it easy to understand! I’ve been using bait casting reels for 35 years and once you get the hang of it, you’ll love it. I’m so thankful for BFS coming to America, as I really despise spinning reels! Thank you sir!

thanks bud! I really appreciate it! BFS ftw! I probably would only use spinning for surf fishing or reservoir fishing where i need that super long cast. but Bait casting for pretty much all my fishing! Maybe some fly fishing as I kinda wanna pull some old stuff out of the attic :)

@@rawrfishing yes sir! Most of us here in North Carolina use bait casters on the surf as well. Daiwa Sealine 20s or Penn Fathoms and Squalls with 10’ to 13’ rods!

I bought a ugly stick dock runner from Canadian Tire, I have a load of fun with it. The rod also doubles as an ice fishing rod 36 inches medium action.

It stood up quite well today. It casts great. It reels smoothly. The pole is easily collapsible. friend ended up catching only one fish because we didn't have too long to fish, and he reeled it in easily. Good buy. Hubby is happy so I am happy! Looking forward to warmer temps so we can spend more time playing with it!
