I jig for Mackinaw at Deer Lake in Eastern Wasington with a Nortic Jig 1oz glow in 45feet of water year around Thee lake gets 70 feet but they. Like 45 feet This was.a.secret but know you know.I put. Some kind of fish meet on the large hook and hook several a day.45 feet just works out there.

Nice video. What do you recommend when you catch a really small walleye. A few weeks ago I caught some really small walleyes where I felt they were to small to gill. would you grab them by the body?

I’m also wondering about wing and leg/thigh meat. Growing up we cleaned them, only to save the breasts, but I want to honor these birds as much as possible.

Do,the fish and yourself a favor,get rid of those trebles,2 big single hooks one in front one in back,better!I use number 3 and 4 octopus hooks!

I have an HDS 7 gen 3 Lowrance and a total scan transducer. I fish up in Grand Lake Stream Maine, West Grand Lake. Not sure if it's my gear but my sonar isn't reading deeper depths below 70 feet. I've taken it off auto and set it for 150 feet, bottom lock etc but I guess my problem is finding them, not catching them. Found some signals at 40-50 feet but not sure if that's Lake Trout or Smallmouth Bass. I didn't think smallies went that deep in August.

Great info!! I love fishing in Minnesota and Ontario.....the smallmouth are more aggressive than the smallmouth here in Tennessee

I live in sunset country and never really attemped to catch lakers in summer. But yes basically what you are doing is searching dor lakers then vertical jigging as if you are ice fishing.
