Ebenezer is a Hebrew word that means "stone of help". It comes from the words eben, which means "stone", and ezer, which means "help". In the Bible, the Hebrew prophet Samuel names a place "Ebenezer" in the Book of 1 Samuel to commemorate God's help to the Israelites in their victory over the Philistines at Mizpah. Samuel wanted the people to remember how God had come to their rescue when they were vulnerable and didn't deserve it.

Where is this church located? As much as I’ve traveled over the years, it’s conceivable that I may be able to attend services there.

I'm a 73-year-old Canadian.! Congregational singing of these old-time gospel hymns is what virtually all evangelical congregations used to participate in. Over the years, beginning in 1973 (Key '73 officially introduced the ungodly, worldly, ecumenical movement that invaded evangelical congregations all around the world). That movement contributed much to my eventual departure from church gatherings. The church music and musicians -- that includes "worship leaders" and "worship teams" (names that are foreign to the old stuff that never failed to Inspire me to be humble and live a holy life). The old Sunday Christian meetings of evangelicals inspired me to live a holy life. The new turns me completely away from Sunday meetings with other believers. The most popular secular music and artists of the 50's and 60's were always better and more artistic to me than the old gospel music and artists of those decades and certainly much better and more artistic than today's popular secular music and artists. However, Fanny Crosby hymns, like those played and sung in the 50's and 60's or gospel music/artists of those decades has/have never failed to generate humility and godly thoughts within me, unlike both today's popular secular music/artists and today's most popular Christian music/artists/composers. Sad to say: Real music (both Evangelical and secular) seems to have disappeared, altogether, with us baby boomers.

I’m happy to see that some churches still sing the old hymns in the regular style. Simple instrumentals (although I do prefer a cappella) and four part harmony with the repeats sung properly.
