"Blok P" was the symbol of an incorrect processing of colonialism, a phase of postcolonialism. It was initially a social achievement, but later came to symbolize the threat to the Greenlandic language and culture, at least that's how it was perceived. The demolition of the building was one of the final steps in the country's selvstyre ("self-government") journey.

Fascinating video - even though I don't understand Danish. I stayed in the hotel next door last year. English subtitles would be great! But what is the music that starts at 30:40? I would love to get a copy....thanks - S

It was poorly designed for the needs of the residents, mostly fishermen. The doors were too narrow to walk through easily wearing bulky fur coats, and the closets were built for a European wardrobe of suits, dresses, handbags etc. rather than boots, parkas, fishing gear. There was no place to clean fish except bathtubs, so the plumbing was continually clogged with blood and fish guts.

Der er nok mange, der har både gode og dårlige minder fra den blok. En milepæl i Grønlands historie.
