Don’t worry big 12 fans you’ll get used to hating Utah and their teams, fans and circus show that surrounds them because they think they deserve everything because they were good in a dying conference…. Their fans are way worse by the way 😂

About censoring the language and intensity: part of this is the culture. BYU is a religious school, and the religion is like 60% to 80% of the populace--Utah student body is like 30% to 60% of that religion, and it's a religion that doesn't hold with swearing, or speaking unkindly of others. Picture of State full of Ted Lasso. To that person, this would sound more harsh. Take the way that most people would hear it, and heard by somebody that doesn't often swear, and doesn't often hear swear words, and when you understand that the belief is not just that it's good to be nice to people, but that you spiritually damage your soul, that this anger or hatred endangers the soul, that means the sensitivity to it is really amplified, magnified by like 60%, maybe 100%. On top of that, this is a really vicious rivalry. There are a lot of vicious rivalries, but this one legitimately can end relationships, and divide families. That's extreme, but that kind of thing happens. The only reason it's not extremely violent is because of the local culture. These colleges are 45 minutes from each other, not hours, and there are usually multiple arrests due to vandalism, assault, and other crimes in the buildup, and on the day--and again, with a culture that reinforces kindness and gentleness, that feels more extreme, so magnify it by 60%. When it is a very sensitive subject, people are trying to ease up on the hatred and aggression part of the rivalry, not because the football rivalry is a problem, but if the mainstream is pretty aggressive, then the fringes become more aggressive. I think they're trying to tone it down in general. Given the comments and behavior of top brass at Utah following the loss, I think they are wise to tone it down. That being said, I'm a BYU fan, and a member of the religion in question, and it kind of runs off my back. I'd rather people be kind, but most of us aren't deeply shocked or full of hatred when we hear that. After all, We can't really be holier than now, since the last time the hatred in this rivalry hit the news, it was our quarterback Max Hall, airing his dirty laundry about how personal his hatred of the Utes was. We need to ease up on it, but I don't really feel like what that player said was a big deal. I was much more entertained in a previous season when a ute player was quoted as saying "Naw, we ain't never lose to them. They so poo-poo." He was being sensitive of the hypersensitivity towards aggression, while making fun of it at the same time, by choosing exaggeratedly unaggressive phrasing, and still getting his point across.

I’m a BYU fan, I hate u of u with the passion of 1000 burning suns…but even I think it would have been hilarious if he had issued his apology and ended it by saying “but I was right”

It makes sense. BYU won a natty in 84 and college football dramatically changed their entire post season system to make sure it never happened again. Obviously it’s still in effect 40 years later.

Notre Dame being ranked ahead of both ISU and BYU is insane. Does losing to directional Illinois not mean anything?
@robmack51916 күн бұрын
BYU has beaten 2 top 25 teams (SMU and K State), and neither have lost another game all season. That said, seeing Iowa St have a close win over UCF and BYU dumpster UCF on the road the very next week says a lot to me. I'm very biased though.

But they won. Meanwhile Tennessee lose to Arkansas and Notre dame loses to NIU. Cal beat Miami in my eyes with a bs missed targeting call and v tech with a call that was impossible to overturn. The disrespect is insane

Another superbowl run would be a terrible idea for Dallas. No one anywhere wants to hear anything from the owner of a legitimate playoff threat. Jerry had to walk all the way down onto the field for any media attention whatsoever while Jimmy Johnsons teams were a late round threat.
