This great album came out when I was in college in mid 1970s. I remember critics thought it was weird and had incomprehensible lyrics. I thought they were expecting Pat Boone or some equally innocuous. This is and remains a brilliant album. Tull's entire 1970s work is some of the best music of the 20th century and I am including Copland, Stravinsky, Bartok, Grofe, and the standard prog rock bands. The section that starts with "I have no time for Time magazine" is beyond superlative.

Not only one of the most (underrated) beautiful band ever, also best (BY FAR) costumes. So cool, rock, punk, celtic, countryman, pirate.. just wanna be there to get dressed like that and be buried in smoke and whisky

JT is generally classified as Progressive Rock, sometimes as Prog Folk but rarely it is mentioned as a Brit Folk / Rock ( like Fairport Convention, Pentangle , Richard Thompson, Sandy Denny etc) . But JT has at least 3-4 dozen top acoustic songs in its catalog which are distinctly British in flavour . One can come across these acoustic ditties right from their second album Stand Up and right up to their last album release in 2023. The JT acoustic songs is very exhustive and the list includes : Bouree, look into the sun, fat man, reasons for waiting, Living in the past, A Christmas song, Life is a long song, mother goose, wondering aloud , inside, a time for everything, Sossity you are a woman, cheap day return, slip stream, really don’t mind, skating away, only solitaire , one white duck, salamander, requiem , summer day sands, from a dead beat, Most songs from the albums - Songs from the wood & Heavy horses, home, Dun Ringill, Bradford Bazar , slow marching band, pussy willow, farm on the freeway, said she is a dancer, Budapest, rocks on the road, sparrow on the school yard, sad city sisters
