Has there been any further discussion on the use of drones for recovery in Nebraska? Or possibly specifically licensing drone operators for the sole purpose of recovery of animals to reduce waste? I know personally I have blood tracked other hunters deer for days attempting to located and ran in circles and really wish I could use all my tools to aid in the recovery and reduce suffering and waste.

Great discussion guys! I am also a fan of D2 steel. It is difficult to sharpen but, if you hone it, it'll stay sharp for a long time. I have a ceramic "steel" that I use and it works great.

The "Laydown Hen" seems to be the current craze in decoys. It makes sense but I've always just used a regular hen decoy with no stake.

Same thing here, Jeff. I've got an upright hen with a very short stake. She's the decoy that gets all the attention in my hunts this year. Once everything greens-up and grows she can be hard to see, though... hershy

Back in the day (80's) we had to quit turkey hunting at noon in Iowa. Luckily there was a pond where I hunted so fishing started at noon.

Jeff, there are days in the late season when I wish someone would make me quit chasing gobbles earlier. I've proven that relying on my own common sense to do it is lacking...🤣 hershy

Yall need to follow kansas and offer a bounty on racoon and opossum. I personally came across 7 nests last spring and every single one was wrecked by nest predators. I also witnessed 0 poults during the late spring/summer in turkey groups in my area.

I always enjoyed Dec. squirrel hunting in Missouri. Now in Florida. That’s now January February. And due to Florida’s rules and regulations. Finding anywhere to hunt is very hard. Florida has become a limited hunt state. They only allow so many hunters per “season per property “. So, getting lucky to get “allowed” to enter a WMA is a big deal.

I would have never attempted duck hunting had it not been the 2 tier system. Now that ive done it for a year im ~fairly~ confident about moving up to tier 1 this year. Will probably go tier 2 one more year to really boost my confidence and experience. Like you mentioned, I hunted probably 2 1/2 weeks worth and filled 3 bags worth of birds. Being able to hunt and learn to identify at the same time without worry of penalty was a godsend.

Great to hear your success with the experiment. We are finding out that you are not alone...happy hunting!

Seems like most of the trends in hunting aren't necessarily about lethality.... But lethality at 60+ yards. Shotguns, bows, muzzleloaders.... It's not about the hunting part anymore it's about the shooting part.... And you gotta make sure to post it on Instagram
