Habitat for humanity. Our beloved, former President, Jimmy Carter, would be proud of those who have advanced this service! Kudos to Harvey! Great to hear of the sustainable farming at common ground eco that Lucas has presented. Yeah, thank you for hosting Cynthia! This was great!

Thank you for the questions about previous owners transitioning to community owned property. Just one of the many challenges of community.

No one ever owns the land, only the land deed. In all these years this place has not ever done any positive work it out togather. We joke they sit around ina circle to cry.

Be extremely careful and do not trust these people. I live close by this place. Have known from start. I have friends who live there. Alot of negative on going issues. They use up alot of free community services without volunteer ing

Yana's class is AMAZING, y'all. There's a lot of advice out there, but none of it gets into the deep sticky stuff this class does so well. Once I had consumed everything available for free on the internet, I decided to give this class a try, and I sure am glad I did. It tackles a lot of the same heavier stuff that the book Creating a a Life Together by Diana Leafe Christian does, but updated for our current times and larger western culture (addressing directly the things that need to be changed for a harmonious future!) Yana's insight and advice are invaluable. We can't be certain until we launch, and then give it a while of course, but we feel really prepared compared to what we did before her class. We are confident that our eyes are open to most, if not all potential pitfalls, and if this course doesn't have an exact answer, it probably has really great resources for where get the info you need. Highly recommend this class.

I had to make a huge effort to keep watching this guy. It's important to see other points of view. Of course there are different forms of communities, but some of them can be really troublesome! Is this one aligned to FIC purposes?

Unfortunately, since the 1960's, these communities are more of a short lived novelty for those who move in, than it is a long term commitment for the same. Very few are willing to keep the fire burning in order to not see the community dissolve.

My plan is to move to europe in 2026 and visit intentional communities across the continent before deciding where I want to settle down. Community and belonging are so so important, even moreso in this hyper individualized society. I believe people in the western world would be much happier if intentional communities were the norm.

Oh my bad, I didn't know we weren't into actual discussion of intentional communities. Apparently we're only allowed to sing praise. This is a laundry list of all the things you should not do to start a community according to every course I've taken with FIC (unless of course you don't care about the actual community aspect of your community). He said himself The community was basically a bunch of vacation homes until a bunch of people who don't believe in science moved there, And maybe now they're creating something resembling a real community (based on the shared values of... Living in cheap places). I imagine you'll delete this too, but at least someone has to look at it and make the conscious choice to censor valid discussion about places that call themselves Ecovillages (And trademark the Well-Known term That people worked for decades to create a foundation for) with 8,000 sqft. Mansions and then still sleep at night. Good job social media team. Keep telling yourselves you're doing what's right to expand the communities movement. Guess it doesn't matter how damaging those communities might be. Shoot, maybe next month we can focus on how to start A Christian white nationalist compound and discuss the best ways to store our weapons to hide them from the government. Since apparently the type of community doesn't matter nearly as much as the fact that it calls itself an intentional Community or an Eco village. 🙄

Love the idea, don’t love that you can build mansions, if you have homes that are not too big, the have and have nots, don’t have the jealousy factor. What about growing food the hydroponics way where you conserve water and are not depending on the weather. I hope it takes off and people stay in their own countries because they see hope and don’t have to deal with the restrictions of the governments. Would like to know what you do about someone that does commit a crime in community?

Well now that would make it too much like an actual eco village. Why do all that when you can just slap a trademark on the word Eco village and call your places that?

Open Letter to GEN: The Global Ecovillage Network Bravo to the Global Ecovillage Network! And yet, you MUST now know this: EXTREMELY IMPORTANT OVERSIGHTS AND BLIND SPOTS MUST BE ADDRESSED, IMMEDIATELY. Sorry for the very bold, all-capitals presentation, but i wanted to make sure this important note is not missed. The Global Ecovillage Network is definitely one of the most hopeful, important and inspiring movements on the planet today, but, there are enormous, and extremely dangerous blind spots in the movement and organization. There is a grave lack of understanding of geopolitics, political-economy and political philosophy, first of all. If this is not addressed, the ecovillages will simply be taken over by the WEF-based, neo-feudal, corporate-fascist empire, one village, or one nation, at a time. It is critical to your survival, and to the future of humanity and Earth, that you come to a very clear understanding of the broader geopolitical issues now. Understanding political philosophy is also essential. If your core values do not include freedom, equality, constitutional democracy, decentralized but federated, and robust, participatory democracy, and universal human rights for all, then your future is also in grave peril, as is the future of humanity and the Earth. Also important, and critically so, is a better, deeper understanding of ecology. The evidence is now overwhelming, that a *combination* of small-scale, local, community-based, regenerative organic agriculture, with permaculture and holistic management, is essential for regenerating the Earth and feeding humanity. Your ecological model is out of date. The healing of the grasslands is critical to the healing of the planet and climate - and this requires a careful integration of free-range livestock with holistic management. If these three areas, of geopolitics, political philosophy and holistic management, are not immediately understood, then the future for the planet and the people, and all of the ecovillages, is grim - and bleak. These are the simple facts. Please, see Vandana Shiva, Geoff Lawton, Allan Savory, and my own work - all four - immediately, or we are all frankly doomed to a dystopian future that *will be* hell on Earth. Please, do it now. J. Thank you to FIC and to the communities and leaders for sharing your time and experiences! Loving the new 'set up' and wondering for those of us who cannot join at the time, is there a way to see/post questions for this episode? Looking forward to seeing more as I'm continuing to look for a community that fits. These videos are immensely helpful and so enjoyable to see and learn about all the communities in the world. It builds hope. <3
