2:35 - if you use 2 of the 4 bolts you removed from the outside of the flange, there are 2 bolt holes on the INSIDE of that flange. Thread them in and tighten them down evenly on each side and it forces the union apart. No need to bang on anything. Very simple design feature that makes the job a lot easier.

Im having the same clanking issue on takeoff with a stretched chain on a 2013 grand Cherokee that is all wheel drive. Do you think your video would apply to it also? Its a v6 Cherokee Laredo 4x4. Thanks
@thomasjones1886 ай бұрын
It's probably not the same transfer case but that likely is the problem
@cowboyuphi6 ай бұрын
Slightly different case, but same way to do it. Bolts and chain and driveline removal is basic between cases. It will be quite similar.
@Snakebyte706 ай бұрын
Thanks…mine doesn’t have a tag or Id on it but as far as I can tell, it’s the MP2010 because mine doesn’t have the option to put in 2 or 4 wheel drive manually, it’s all done in the transfer case electronically

while reading the install for this chain...it says "There is a blue link on one side of the chain. This blue link MUST be installed facing upward" not sure if that means having the links facing out so you can see them and not facing away to where you cant see them or if it means upwards above the sprockets. Not sure why the blue links have to be in a certain place
@cowboyuphi6 ай бұрын
@@Snakebyte70 I assume that means the blue link must be facing the cover that you pull off.

🆘 i did the same thing today. At 6:52 in your video when u lift up case and takk about gear. There is a washer. (Not the magnet ). Does that go on first with gear. Could use a lil help. Thanks 🤠 i pilled out case and it ways laying in there when i took it apart. I had a lil trouble wiggling chain off.
@cowboyuphi7 ай бұрын
It’s been a while since I did this. I don’t remember a washer there, but as you see the gear assembly when I lift the cover, the washer isn’t on the gear and didn’t fall out. That means it was still stuck in the cover. Otherwise, I would’ve showed how to put it back. Sorry I’m late to reply to you.

Did you have to torque bolts. Or just tight as u can without snapping
@cowboyuphi7 ай бұрын
Never as right as you can. All bolts do have torque specs but I’ve been turning wrenches for so long, that I seldom use a torque wrench unless it’s super important. Just make sure all bolts are snug and not having any worries about breaking bolts either.
@brassmule4 ай бұрын
Torque spec for the cover bolts is 27Nm / 20 ft-lbs.

What sealant did you use for the gasket?
@cowboyuphi11 ай бұрын
Sorry for my late reply. As Jeep drivetrain is made by Mercedes, I used the black Mercedes gasket maker that I already had on hand, but any black silicone will do the job. I can’t believe I forgot to include that in the video.
@brassmule4 ай бұрын
The Mopar black stuff is what you are supposed to use - Permatex Ultra Grey would also be a great choice (it's what I used and the case hasn't leaked yet so I guess that's a good thing). Like he does in the video - you don't hardly need any of it. Very thin coating, and even with that you'll get some squeeze out. I let mine cure with the fill plug out for 2 days just to make sure it was fully cured on the inside.

Thank you needing to change mine. Was wondering what I was getting myself into first. This is a Really detailed video besides when you popped the case cover off. Figure if anything the nut holding the shaft allows the chain to come right off the other gear!
@cowboyuphi Жыл бұрын
When the case pops off with a little tap of a hammer and a small pry from a screwdriver, the gear assembly will fall off with it. The chain is super easy to remove then. Just remember what side of the gear assembly faces the front and what side faces the rear and it will all slide back together with ease.

One caution from reading reviews of people replacing their switches. Is when you first turn it on, watch the gauge to see where it shuts off at. As some talked of it going way into the red and had to adjust the pressure back down.
@colt5189 Жыл бұрын
How does one figure out what pressure switch is on their compressor? I have an older 10 gallon version.
@cowboyuphi Жыл бұрын
I searched Amazon, eBay, and google with the model number and brand to find my matching switch. It wasn’t so difficult to find. You can let me know the make and model number and I can search for you if you like.
@colt5189 Жыл бұрын
@@cowboyuphi Okay, I was able to find specific results from make and model number, though also many wrong parts showed up too. I'm generally used to cars stuff with part numbers and you can pick out the good parts and ignore the junk brands. But did see complaints on Amazon reviews of switches not having holes for ground wires, etc. and that the part was cheap. Anyways, I searched everywhere to see if I could buy a good quality part and it seems these replacement parts you have to just go by the picture to see if it looks like the part on your compressor. And it seems these are all aliexpress type parts when looking around. Technically these parts all have part numbers, just that they don't really list it like automobiles. From massive searching, I did see a website mention some brand names like Wuxihx, Lefoo and others. And from there I found Lefoo makes a switch for my compressor. Don't know their quality but at least they are name brand and have a website listing their parts, and the part design looks more like the switch on mine compared to some generic switches I've seen pics of people showed from review. Did find a guy on eBay selling one for $25, which is probably a little pricey, but not much you can do when everyone sells aliexpress generic parts. www.lefoo.com/products/lf10-l-pressure-switch
@cowboyuphi Жыл бұрын
Congratulations. I’m glad to hear you found one. I know all the parts are made in China and have no standard for part numbers like cars do. Name brands are also chinese names and can’t compare with Moog or borg Warner or Bosch. Cars are so much better haha.
