My cat had the same problem. I found the book 'Feline Lymphoma Managing and Overcoming' By Albert Costa on amazon very good advice for my cat and we managed much better. Thank you for this as well.

After dealing with IBD symptoms for about a year and recently noticing our cat was getting extremely tired and having some difficulty breathing we knew it was time to get her more help than our local vet could offer. She was still eating, drinking, using the bathroom, etc., but definitely not herself. We're lucky to live within short driving distance of one of the top 10 vet schools in the country so we took her to their emergency room a few days ago. After lots of testing she was diagnosed with small cell lymphoma and received her first chemo treatment today. Her oncologist reported that her appetite is now what they described as ravenous and she has already perked up quite a bit. Her treatment will be a long road for all of us but we hope it is successful and she gets to live her last years as healthy and happy as possible.

My staffy has bladder cancer. We are at the 18.5 mth mark, after Thorn was given 4 Mths with TCC. He is still enjoying his short walks around a lake. Does wee alot. But still likes to play at times. And can still run when it suits him. We opted for no interventions. We are blessed. And enjoy all the extra time we’ve been given. So far it has had an extra 14.5 mths. Loving him every extra day. 💜💜

Our dog was diagnosed with this cancer in her spine. I cannot find any information about this as most topics are about amputation which is not a possibility in this case. As she is already losing control over her legs we will have to put her asleep soon. If any other ideas and experience let me know..

My dog is being treated for an ear infection & has a swollen lymph node under the same infected ear. She's eating well, with no weight loss, a little vomiting, but nothing more than usual. It's only if she's ate something & it's upset her stomach, but again, it's rare. She's behaving like her normal happy self with nothing bothering her. The first vet said it was a swollen lymph node, but the second doctor who started the infected ear treatment didn't even mention this, but instead went straight to saying I may have to spend £600 on having the lump tested, rather than ruling out other causes first, like swollen lymph node that could have been caused by the infected ear. I see someone had the same issue & was given antibiotics to treat it. I was not. My dog had an issue last year with a different lump & was told I could spend up to £900 to have it tested. I got on KZbin & within 5 minutes I was told to try Nappy rash cream which I did & the lump was gone within 2 weeks & had started working within the first 2 days. I'm so angry & scared for my dog & the amount of money to help her when there is more simple & cheaper cures out there

I get it. It is not easy. Heather is so good at it. I suggest you ask your vet if there is liquid form and to be compounded into a liquid that can be flavored. That is also what I did for medications for my cats

My cat was diagnosed with high grade lymphoma. We decided to try chemotherapy, it seemed to helped briefly then back to not eating, even on an appetite stimulant. It seems that this is not going to get better unfortunately, just a band aid and she’s suffering. She’s so skinny😢Not sure if it’s in her best interest to continue chemo Just heart breaking

Dr Sue, please answer this question. It bothers me that all vets, you included, talk of lymphoma as if it can be cured. Maybe you don't say it with that many words, but it's woven into the narrative you bring. My cat is 2 years old and is diagnosed with lymphoma, probably high grade. It was dedected during a routine control while my cat was still perfectly fine. Now, the prognosis, if I would do 6 months of chemo would be 9-12 months, actually more like 5-6 because there's a suspicion it's also in the kidneys. That's just palliative care in my book, not real treatment. Just say it as it is : you're cat has cancer, we vets cannot save him, we can extend his life a tiny bit, on the condition that he goes through a very rough procedure, where he will be stressed out every week for at least 4 hours (2 hours in small cage in the car and 2 hours at the clinic) and it will be painful (taking blood is painful, don't BS around it) and there will be side effects. I chose not to put my cat through that. In this video of yours you make it sound as if people who chose not to put their beloved pet through chemo do it because of practical and financial reasons. I can tell you, I made my choice 100% purely for the sake of my cat. It would be very selfish to put my cat through even more pain so I, ME can have some more time with him. Not saying the facts as is, is unethical in my opinion. Eventually after all those stressfull runs to the clinic, usually quite fast even, the animal will go through the exact same thing... again. Find a real cure or stop pretending cancer is not a death sentence for pets... It is !!!

Well put, it’s unfortunately true. My cat was diagnosed with intestinal lymphoma. I really thought the chemotherapy would help based off what I was told. After 1 round and a little improvement then back to not eating I realized this is just prolonging the inevitable and just hanging on to hope but it’s not fair to her. Heartbreaking but something we have to deal with and would be so grateful if drs would just come out with it. It’s a tough road for sure. My heart goes out to everyone dealing with this❤

Even if this video was sponsored I have to say it was a miracle. Our dog had chemo yesterday, came home and didn’t eat at all. We asked the oncologist for a prescription of Entyce and within an hour he ate his favorite treats and a bowl of food. Then he ate again at night. He is energized, playful and happy. Thank you so much for posting a video about this medication. It worked a miracle and I hope it will work for other pets. God bless you doctor, and all who read this message!

My poor Kitty is suffering with a form of this. The vet suggests a feeding tube out of the side of her neck for hydration & food. I don't want her life to fade away, her little life is very precious to me but her eyes often reflect misery. There are times they are wide, curious and full of that same old life she had (after a tubby and her face is clean) - the doc as given me a asteroid cream for her ear flap to absorb and an opiate that is put on her gum for pain. This does help her eat/mash food into her face, but it's a little messy and sometimes hard to watch. It's hard and rare for me to hear a cat's tummy rumble from hunger. My heart it breaking, she's my best friend. The thought of putting her down is unbearable, what should I do? Go the feeding tube route and try to let her live a few more months or ease her off into a sleep she'll never wake from? Also, this is an important question I'd love to have answered, with all the drooling & mess, is this in any way contagious to my other cat?

Just found this cancer in my 13 year old cat. Symptoms/signs were lots of thick saliva/drool, then blood drops around the house, blood found on his chin. Then opened his mouth and saw an open ulcer along the side of his tongue. Treatment was a pain management for the last of his days. However, just a few days of treatments and I can see he absolutely hates the experience. Before he was showing mild signs of discomfort, now he won’t leave his comforting hiding spots and is untrusting of me. If I were in his shoes, I would want to avoid any and all discomfort, and would probably ask for an assisted end of life plan. I plan to finish his current round of meds and determine if I should refill or help him find peace. As animal owners, we have to remove our own mental discomfort and think about theirs. No one wants to live a painful and miserable life especially with no tangible fix to our medical conditions. Choose life until you know you have to choose death. Thank you for your sharing of this knowledge. It does give me comfort I’m doing the best I can for him.

They found the tumor when I brought her in for a dental consult. She has no symptoms. She's scheduled next week for a dental/tumor removal and biopsy. (The regular vet didn't even mention cancer and the ER vet wouldn't address it until I asked him point blank if it was likely cancer and he finally said yes.) I took her to the ER specialty today and they just tried to convince me to go with this approach from my regular vet and didn't refer me. It seems the opposite of what is recommended by the online SCC community. Is there any chance if we caught it early? Is including a dental (even if she needs it) just stupid at this point? Maybe it'll make her feel better? Do you think contact with asphalt could cause this? This is the 2nd of 4 cats (she's only 10 - he died of SCC at 14) that have this and one other died of lymphoma. There's no smoking/flea collars/tuna. They do eat wet and dry (high quality) food. I'm worried that they often lie on asphalt and have been exposed to the debris from construction nearby. They have a catio but also sit outside on the asphalt for an hour or so each day under a motorhome. Maybe they're ingesting bad chemicals when they clean themselves? I need to stop this horrible cycle. This disease is evil.
