It’s a fun army to play but it’s def not a competitive one. It’s a very steep learning curve. I played mercs after maining republic for 2 years and switching from pretty much conventional military tactics and wanting a lot of faceup orders to going to an entire army that pretty much operates at random and independently is a hard switch. Still a fun army to play especially if you’re running a lot of mandos zipping around and picking your fights

If you mix 1 part of each natron, white acrylic paint and wood glue, you get an easily spreadable, glittery and smooth snow paste very cheaply

Army Painter's snow is my go-to I find that if you mix a spoonful of snow with a spoonful of PVA glue and splodge it onto the base so it comes up in nice little mounds, and maybe dollop a bit on top of some snow tufts as well (for realism!) it can look really nice. You never really get away from the fact that it is, as you say, rather coarse, but I'm happy with the way it's come out so far: my WW2 Polish are looking adequately chilly, in any case!

Thank you very much for this video, as I was planning to do snow bases for my Battletech minis as an homage to my old Khador minis from Warmachine, which had a pure "snow" base made of fine white sand, white glue, and a little bit of a ice blue paint to give it a nice tint. Quick question: Can I do a pure snow basing (AK Terrains Snow + Micro Balloons) or would it be better if I did snow splotches on a dark gray texture base? Some what worried that snow splotches would look off due to the scale of Battletech.

Any idea how I can break up snow bases for a Battletech mini? Don't think the tufts would work well given the scale.

Great video, while a little pricey I think I have to go with the snow sprinkles. It's perfect for the 'melted snow' look that I'm wanting to add to my dark rocky bases, and that sparkly finish that it has should really give the finished product a nice bit of pop. Thanks for the great comparison!

I purchased the Recruit Edition because I've always been interested in 40k. I'm using those minis to get my painting skills up. Also, a "good value" (for GW's prices...) for your money. I have a love/hate relationship with the mark up. Similar to Path of Exile not having a publisher they have a massive mark up on purchases. Similar to GW selling $3 worth of plastic for $50.

I buy the recruit edition just start to paint a little scared at first but i try and KZbin is a good place to start

These recruit editions are fantastic, but honestly they should release starter sets with other armies. Imperial Guard and Chaos Marines, Sisters and Gene Stealers, Eldar and Tau, Voltann and Orks, ect. If you have no interest in Space Marines or Necrons this box isn't helping anyone get into 40k.

in japan, everything about Warhammer costs [x1.5] than England. i can't afford it, although i know, Warhammer 40k is cool. i ended up to stay with Gundam. (Price, Quality).

Gw has had a foam cutter for more than a decade. I got mine at the gw store.

None of them looks like snow. Honestly, it just looks like white blobs of paint on a base.

You should use small magnets on back of signs. That way you can switch them around make different combinations. Maybe put magnets on top and of buildings so they can become 2, 4, 6 stories.

The command edition is what I bought thinking you get the big core book. That was disappointing as I feel like they advertised it like you would get that. Oh, well I still like the stuff I got from it.

completely noob question but I cant find a straight answer anywhere, hoping someone can help. I want to get into the hobby and considering the recruit edition. Would you recommend painting them blue (as per the box and manual) or keep them as is and eventually paint them the colors of the faction (if that is the proper term) that I want to get into? (Space wolves really caught my eye). So long story short, can these beginner intercessors be used with the space wolves, or are they completely different from each other?
