@@ChristopherCourington1981 no worries! Yeah, the bass part is way simpler. Mostly whole notes and then quarter notes after the bridge.

My advice would be to stay encouraged and practice. Find lessons that will teach you the basics and how to expand your playing. Progress happens little by little. But with dedication, over time you will grow. Think of it as drops in a bucket. One drop may not seem like it’s doing anything, but over time, the drops add up and fill bucket. Practice, and listen to things that inspire you.

Hi! In my opinion, yes. Of course, there is no one style of bass that is better than the other. But the general tone and characteristics you get from a jazz bass translates very well to those styles.

@@kylesmith5893 Hey! Man I’m pumped that you’re getting some new gear! It’s a solid bass. It definitely filled a sonic need in my arsenal. Before this one I had a PJ and got rid of it for this one. Not because it was bad, I’m just personally not a fan of the PJ sound. It had a more nasal tone to it, and it just didn’t “fit” what I was doing at the time. Hopefully this helps!

How do I get sustain on notes like you do?

I guess it’s the culmination of a few things. It all starts in your hands. Strike the string with confidence and have the discipline to just hold the note. A little saturation and compression helps with the sustain and “fill in” the space sonically. But again.. 90% is just technique.
