You were absolutely right to refuse to drag your hoses through dog poop. Trying to clean those after dragging them through it would be really hard. You might want to add that disclaimer when you give a quote from now on. If there is any biological waste in the yard, you will cancel their appointment. I wouldn't even want to charge more to pick it up because seriously, that's a lot of extra time that wouldn't have happened if they just taken care of their yard to begin with.

The customer in this case is a thousand percent wrong because it is not your job to pick up their dog's poo it is their job they have the dog the dog does its Duty their duty is to pick it up it's like when you go out someplace and you walk your dog and your dog does his business you bring baggies you pick up the dog poop and you put it in the garbage you do the same thing at home it's a no-brainer but maybe in this case there's not a brain for it to be a no-brainer to

I always clean up my dogs poo if I have someone coming to do work outside. It isn't fair that they could step in it or get it on their equipment. It's just nasty leaving it and then asking a contractor to deal with it.

If I booked a service at my house, id absolutely make sure the yard was ready for you, pulling furniture away from the windows or area, picking up all the dog mess, etc.

if it was me i would not mind one or two poops being there as some dogs do poop often and your not always there to pick everyone up you are also there to clean the patio/path you would not turn away work if the path was covered in bird poop plus the dogs clearly have been peeing on the path so your going to be getting the spray of the path and getting covered in pee too. That being said it all comes down to you really if there was loads i would have charged.
