It’s interesting how on different bells when the tenor is not being used like middle 8 or the front 10 anywhere how it sounds very different.

I used to wonder how muffles work but now I know because of the leather attached to the clapper which makes a really nice echoey sound like it’s coming from far away when actually your very close to that noise.

I think this s such a great idea, plus you can ring without worrying about noise control. I like the idea of ringing rounds up and down as it teaches such good bell control that is needed especially when you ring on heavy twelves.

from the recording they sound identical to Grantham, and so to the new ring at St Michael Cornhill. Maidstone are a tad deeper in tone.

@@RingerPeter Thankyou for your interesting information conceming bells in order of weight that hang for full circle rininging, i have visites the Belfrey of Liverpool Cathedtal as its one of the easiedt to a cend the others bieng a bit more difficult although they have been over the yearsopening up the toers more to the public, i have also been researching the towers with the most number of bells hung for full circle rimging, the tower with the most number in the world is christ church cathedral Dublin with 19 in all, and they are hung very close together as they would have to be, ! more towers are now containg 14 as some are bought from tedundant churches, St Martin in the Bullring Birmingham contains 16 and they are hung on a two tier system, i must visit it at some time.

What stay system do the Dumbbells have? Pendulum Stay?
@worcesterboss
@worcesterboss 5 жыл бұрын
Hello Irene. They have a rope hoop at the top of the bell which catches a metal peg situated at the bell's circumference. This hoop is held in place by a spring steel clamp. If you pull too hard and hit the stay the clamp separates and the hoop can't hold the bell. It's very simple and can be reset in under a minute. Take care. Mark
